❄️ It's time for a relaxing winter escape! Come enjoy this crackling fire and steamy hot tub combo and unwind.
Hey, I made a thing.
So there's this cool site Chore Wars, which is an RPG-styled way to deal with your chores, and, more importantly, to involve everyone (family, flatmates, office colleagues) in the process. I used it with my mom, and with my flatmates, and I love the simplicity of the process - there's nothing to switch attention to, no ads, no fancy images, and almost no communication with others; you may even skip the occasional battles and use it completely as a log.
But then I thought -- perhaps I can add my study-research routine here? And perhaps, someone else will find it interesting enough to join? And tackle those deadly deadlines together, claim some XP and gold, and sweet rewards on the way?
So I made this Land of Academics, with Ivory Tower with all study-research-related activities, and kept the pre-generated Chambers and Outside World chores, as you can see on the screenshot.
Some points:
You may use the chore comments as a mini study-daily log (though the historical data is limited), or you may simply track your progress and level up your paladin, ranger, or else;
I changed rewards there, so I could just use them when I got them;
I decided that I will spend some gold on a non-written reward each time I'll level up (it takes 200 XP).
Unfortunately, I am a lonely grad student, and all my friends left academia long ago. But hey, perhaps some of my followers would like to join me on this adventure? After all, this blog started as a studyblr, lol. Let me know, and I'll share the invite link with you!
potentially groundbreaking material on the ADHD front babes

back to school reminders
1. set some academic goals!
do not go back aimlessly. you need to hit the ground running. you can get a goal journal or simply make yourself a google document, compiling a list of all the things you wish to achieve/learn and a plan on how you’ll get there. make sure to check in with yourself weekly: are you meeting your goals? if not, adjust appropriately. for study tips, refer to my post here.
2. make sure to figure out a good exercise regimen
exercise is a great (not to mention healthy) way of dealing with stress. remember, there are tons of free online content in regards to workout routines, especially on youtube. curate a playlist to work through (preferably with videos lasting at least 20 minutes) for every week. exercising doesn’t necessarily mean going to the gym. 3. set up a good organization system for your notes binders with dividers is the good old fashioned way of doing things. (and quite frankly, i still use it myself; even when i’m taking notes digitally, i make an effort to print and file them away in a binder so i always have a hard copy to refer to come exam season). i also bought a bunch of 30 page notebooks and keep them stashed away in the office room. (specifically, the hilroy ones, which are 25 cents per notebook). i use a notebook for each unit/topic discussed in subjects like mathematics/biology/chemistry/physics, where solving problem sets are common for practice. 4. learn how to maximize your efficiency time is (and always will be) the greatest enemy. can’t shake off your netflix addiction? well, maybe it would be a good idea to install some website blocker extensions from the chrome store. having trouble waking up early? install an alarm clock app that needs you to solve a puzzle in order for you to shut it off. many people will advise you to create a plan or schedule, but the truth is that will not work for everyone. some people prefer having a less rigid way of doing things and that’s perfectly fine! it is, however, very important to establish deadlines by setting up reminders for yourself (on your phone or calendar). 5. enjoy your leisure time school is stressful, so be sure to take some time for yourself every now and then. don’t neglect your hobbies! you can even turn them somewhat productive if you’d like to. love writing? perhaps try your hand at creating your own book to publish. like watching movies? create a blog to review all the films you’ve watched. having a goal to strive for outside of school can be really motivating; you’ll want to stay on top of your schoolwork so you can have more time to work on your personal projects.

If you like hearing to soundscapes while reading/writing/studying I made this one inspired on Good Omens!. I was inspired by the atmosphere inside of Aziraphale’s backroom in a quiet night of reading, and of course Crowley is there because he doesn’t have anything better to do than chill with his angel. “Aziraphale reads by the fire. Even though is late at night, the london traffic never seems to be completely shut down, hearing passing cars here and there. The other sounds that can be heard from his backroom are the low snores and breathing from a sleeping demon sprawled on his couch, resting his legs on Aziraphale's lap”
