She may not have turned to any of the above-mentioned trends, but she did take a stand in her own way. The Year of Less: How I Stopped Shopping, Gave Away My Belongings, and Discovered Life Is Worth More Than Anything You Can Buy in a Store documents how she broke her cycle of earning more, buying more, wanting more (and more, and more) with a year of not spending money on non-essential items.

(German below/Deutsch unten) A depth year Inspired by Kelly-Ann Maddox, who made a video about the topic, I decided to make 2023 a »depth year«. There are lots of different ways to have a depth year, for instance, looking at your habits and what you buy. In my case, it’s about buying less. I plan to buy zero fiction books, because my pile-to-read (books on my ebook reader) is quite large. I want to buy some pagan/witchy non-fiction, but less than in the years before. I am currently rereading a pagan book and I might reread some more. I am planning to buy zero new jewelry pieces and no clothes (unless clothes break on me and can't be repaired). I have already bought some witchy items, like tealights and essential oils. As a friend has given me lots of incense sticks, there is no need to buy more of those this year, yeah! Es gibt viele verschiedene Möglichkeiten, ein Jahr der Tiefe zu begehen, zum Beispiel, indem man seine Gewohnheiten und sein Shoppingverhalten kritisch betrachtet. In meinem Fall geht es darum, weniger zu kaufen. Ich habe vor, keine belletristischen Bücher zu kaufen, denn mein Lesestapel (Bücher auf meinem Ebook-Reader) ist ziemlich groß. Ich möchte einige pagane/ Hexen-Sachbücher kaufen, aber weniger als in den Jahren zuvor. Ich lese gerade ein paganes Buch noch einmal und werde vielleicht noch ein paar weitere erneut lesen. Ich plane, keine neuen Schmuckstücke und keine Kleidung zu kaufen (es sei denn, Kleidung geht mir kaputt und kann nicht mehr repariert werden). Ich habe bereits einige Hexenartikel gekauft, wie Teelichter und ätherische Öle. Da mir eine Freundin viele Räucherstäbchen geschenkt hat, muss ich dieses Jahr keine mehr kaufen, ja!
