Consumerism really has me thinking things like "can i put this water in my bottle for free?"
aoba, the ultimate anti-oligarch, would’ve been vehemently against the hyper consumerist “yaoi jesus” nonsense

Gamers are a consumer population. They are not a community.
A consumer population can be measured, segmented, irritated, soothed, monetized, reactivated, and churn-predicted.
Being a gamer is not an identity. It is a label that says this person can be behaviorally predicted and routed. To be a gamer was to be a test subject for the modern internet economy.
The gamer is constantly told they are powerful while their world keeps narrowing around them.
So you end up feeling this:
instant reward addiction
low frustration tolerance
performative identity
endless comparison
rage as entertainment
buying as self-expression
time loss disguised as progress
With nothing but a messy life to show for it. All by design.
Every bad patch, nerf, monetization insult, door-in-the-face “balancing”, even business decisions like no more discs becomes content. Reaction videos, Reddit essays, Discord wars, apology posts, “we hear you” statements, roadmap revisions are all marketing as they get spread and argued into oblivion. Free labor, all provided willingly by the gamer who will (as a group) almost certainly purchase.
Reminder: Outrage is retention wearing clown makeup.
Your time on this earth is limited.
Consume less. Create more.
