I REFUSE to participate in overconsumption
The day I buy a needoh or a dumpling squishy is the day I die
"Over consumption this, over consumption that"
Bitch, let me have my hobbies. Yes, I have a massive collection of yarn and notebooks. Yes. Do I give a shit? No. Each has its own special purpose, and each gives me a little shot of dopamine when I get to organize my pretty things.
Yes, I have a lot of jewelry, but I'm also into alt fashion and this is kinda what I do. Plus, it's all slowly collected (as in literal years of thrifting, gifts, and diy). Clothes? Also slowly collected over the years, same with my bags and shoes. I'll also hand sew quite a few of my clothes from second hand fabrics, like old dresses and shirts.
Yes, there is an issue with people online following trend after trend only to de-clutter and throw it away after it's done, but that isn't the same as having a hobby or simply enjoying the process of collecting. People are allowed to spend money on things they enjoy. We are allowed to find joy in this hell scape of a world. So what if it means finding joy in things like shoes or makeup?
Anyways, rant finished, Ima go pack my moving boxes.
It’s very interesting how online when women predominantly buy things and over consume it’s overconsumption, BUT when men buy things and over consume they’re just “collecting” or that’s just how this content works. A good example is women influencers buying too much makeup or clothes that’s overconsumption, but for men buying too much tech he’s just reviewing it, and the only time I’ve seen tech content being called overconsumption is when a woman does the exact same as the men but gets called an over consumer
yall noticed how labubu's kinda lost their relevancy? another case of overconsumption driven by trends.

Overconsumption final boss or just Neurodivergence?!?!?
costco restocks are a lot...
This is one of my favorite de-influencers online lol. She has a very calm and intelligent approach, while staying interesting and entertaining. She's a Canadian creator and generally responds to American media, but since she focuses most of her content on overconsumption, it makes sense lol.
