When Prowl and the Constructicons get arrested during Combiner Wars, they talk to each other through their bond. They then get put in the same jail cell. The continue talking through the bond instead of out loud so the guards can't eavesdrop on their conversations. Prowl realizes how much easier it is to communicate through the bond, as he can just send his calculations and ideas directly through the bond without having to verbalize them. So, when they get out of jail, Prowl prefers to talk to the Constructicons through the bond.

Sometimes, when Prowl is talking to other people, he gets frustrated over the fact that the other person doesn't get/understand what he is trying to say nor do they comprehend his calculations. He struggles to explain his calculations and thoughts to people. So, he just shuts down. He sends what he wants to convey to the one of the Constructicons over their bond, who then translates it to the person Prowl is talking to.

So a while back i did a concept redesign of Prowl for my au collision course and here is the rest of the constructicons

Galvatron: “I see. And then?”

Bonecrusher: Help! I need to call 911 but the 9 button isn't working!

Mixmaster: Just turn it upside down and use the 6!
