"Hey, babe, can you come outside for a second?"

Malachi looked up from his phone suspiciously.

"Why?"

You stood in the doorway trying—and failing—not to smile.

"Just come outside."

That was the first red flag.

The second was how quickly you pulled him toward the driveway.

"Y/N, what did you do?"

"Nothing!"

"You definitely did something."

The moment he stepped outside, he froze.

His eyes widened.

"...What."

Parked in the driveway was what appeared to be his car.

Except it was bright bubblegum pink.

Malachi's jaw dropped.

"Y/N."

You bit the inside of your cheek.

"Yeah?"

"Why is my BMW pink?"

You shrugged.

"I thought it needed some personality."

His head snapped toward you.

"You painted my car?!"

"No."

You couldn't hold back a laugh.

Malachi turned back toward the car, staring in disbelief.

"My car was black this morning!"

"And now it's not."

He ran a hand through his hair.

"Oh my God. My dad is gonna kill me."

You nearly doubled over laughing.

Meanwhile, Malachi slowly walked around the car.

"Why pink?"

"Because it's cute."

"It's not cute!"

"It looks like Barbie robbed a dealership!"

At this point you were crying from laughter.

Malachi stopped suddenly.

Then he frowned.

"...Wait."

Uh-oh.

You knew that look.

He was figuring it out.

Malachi squinted at the license plate.

Then he looked at the wheels.

Then back at you.

His eyes narrowed.

"That's not my car."

You immediately burst out laughing.

He pointed at you dramatically.

"I KNEW IT!"

You leaned against the driveway trying to catch your breath.

"Surprise!"

Malachi looked back at the car.

It was nearly identical to his.

Same model.

Same year.

Same everything.

Except pink.

"You bought a matching BMW just to prank me?"

"Maybe."

He stared at you for a moment.

Then he started laughing too.

"You're insane."

"Thank you."

"That wasn't a compliment."

You grinned.

"It sounded like one."

Malachi shook his head and wrapped an arm around your shoulders.

"You know I believed you for a solid minute, right?"

"I know."

"I was already planning my funeral."

You laughed.

"You're dramatic."

"Says the girl who bought an entire car for a prank."

"...Fair."

He looked at the pink BMW again.

Then, to your surprise, he smiled.

"Okay."

"What?"

"It is kinda cute."

You gasped.

"I knew it!"

"Don't tell anyone I said that."

"Too late."
