A beautiful story:

Claire, Élise, and Sophie had worked for years as executive assistants at a large company run by Stéphan. They formed an efficient, close-knit team that was well-liked by everyone.

One day, Stéphan summoned them individually; he harbored a specific attraction to women who had undergone mid-thigh leg amputations.

He handed each of them an envelope containing an extraordinary contract.

The document stated that they had a full month to consider the offer; they were entirely free to refuse—either individually or collectively—without any impact on their employment. If they agreed to have one leg amputated—with the choice of which leg left to them—they would each receive one million euros, along with full coverage for all medical expenses, rehabilitation, and ongoing support.

The contract also required strict confidentiality during the decision-making period.

The proposal left the three women deeply unsettled, yet they agreed to give it some thought.

A week later, Claire was the first to return with the signed contract. Married for several years, she knew the decision would upend her family life but would provide significant financial relief. Two weeks after the initial proposal, Élise signed as well. Divorced and a mother of two, she explained that the money would secure her children's future and provide opportunities she could never have afforded otherwise.

Finally, just days before the deadline expired, Sophie gave her answer. Single and driven by curiosity, she explained to Stéphan that the substantial sum would allow her to build the life she had always dreamed of.

The three surgeries, as well as the subsequent rehabilitation, were performed at a hospital abroad—specifically, in Thailand. Two months later, Claire and Élise returned to work following mid-thigh amputations of their right legs; both moved about on crutches and wore skirts that revealed their stumps—each encased in a lovely stocking tailored to the stump's length—while Sophie, having undergone an amputation of her left leg, also used crutches and wore a skirt that exposed the end of her stump. They resumed their duties with the same professionalism as before.

Their return impressed their colleagues—not because of their appearance, but because of their determination to lead active lives despite the challenges.

Over the following months, Stéphan got to know Sophie better outside of work. Their relationship gradually evolved. Once she was no longer working under his direct supervision, they began dating. Their relationship was built on trust, intimacy, and shared plans for the future, with Sophie’s choice regarding her leg defining neither their relationship nor her worth as a person.
