Been on a Pokémon movie marathon lately and been rewatching almost all the original films (OG 8 films) and I know many have complained and say that these films aren't "all that great" and are only fanservice which I do understand that criticism but I think that's unfair and takes away all the effort, love and the many great things that are in these films that make it so memorable, timeless and great. And while Movies 3, 6 and 8 ("Spell Of The Unknown", "Jirachi, Wish Maker" and "Lucario And The Mystery Of Mew") are some of my favorite Pokémon films, I still have a lot of appreciation for the other films and the first film is one I still do love and appreciate, even if I don't love it as the other films, but the thing that still hits close to home and still gets me emotional and just means a lot is the message of the film itself with the story, as the Pokémon films have some strong and engaging storytelling and emotional depth. Wanted to honestly spread some love and positivity as I'm feeling we're seriously needing some in this world now more than ever especially right now. ❤️🫶
So one of the most important messages of the film is, "It's not where you come from that matters, but what you do with your life that defines you, who you are and become as." The film also emphasizes and explores the importance of friendship, family, the power of love and compassion along with how showing how fighting and dividing conflicts can be dangerous and cause harm especially because of differences, it also explores themes of existentialism and the search for purpose. At a time where everyone's so against one another and fighting because of differences, this movie feels so relatable and important, there's honestly something different about the first three films in general movies as a whole, the first three films have a more cinematic visual style to each installment, along with that, the colors tend to be less saturated and the tone is more darker and mature, reading and being seen as more serious, deep, and thoughtful, especially to a teen and up audience member. And I know these are just children/family films and all but they're more than that honestly, I really can't stress enough how much the original Pokémon (and anime itself) films mean and speak a lot to me but I've also got so much appreciation and respect for the three films especially due to how deep, mature and relatable they are/can be, they're so much more than just fanservice. ♥️
...And this (the message of the film itself even, especially with Mewtwo's lines and storyline, both Japanese and English) still really hits close to home and I think this message is SO important now and means a lot, we need to hear more of this more than ever before especially when we live in a world with so much hatred and evil as it gets worse and worse almost everyday and more depressing and scary. But know there's still goodness in this world along with incredible and lovely people and Individuals, it's also good to see the goodness and generosity that's still in this world despite all the cruelty and heartache. 🩷
I personally feel my purpose in life on this earth is to just continue spreading love and kindness all around, helping others in need and making friends as we NEED more of that in this world and I'll continue being myself and spreading kindness for the rest of my life no matter what, along with fighting for what's right!! As no matter how difficult, bleak and intense things look and are right now, just always remember and know to keep pushing through, fighting, pray and loving yourselves everyone. And don't forget most importantly, remember to take safe and do what's best for yourselves and both your mental and physical health and keep on smiling. 💛💞
