“Rayban charity glasses event” is a scam don’t click any link in a post that says that.
Old tumblr users remember this scam back when it first went out.
(Posted March 28th, 2025)
April 21st, 2025 edit to prove it’s real via a post where someone who got tagged in it shows the image in full without any phishing links:
💬 0 🔁 1 ❤️ 1 · The Ray Bans scam/hack is back. · If someone @s you with a link to a sale on RayBan brand glasses, it's fake. The link take
(Don’t go the scam website for fun, it’s not funny when you get hacked.)
NEW SCAM ALERT!!!
If you get mentioned under ANY blog that says they're Tumblr staff. DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!!!!
Reblogging this would help spread awareness to prevent ppl from getting their accounts hacked and such.
Holy shit???? New scam strategy alert! Apparently scammers will use your identity to accuse you from selling child porn!!! Do not fall for this bullshit 😭😭😭😭😭 lmfoaifjapfj
Edit: please reblog my last reblogs on this same post for more info.
SERIOUS: NEW BOT SCAM ALERT
heya!
this right here?
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT REAL.
the "@staff" is just the bio text.
tumblr staff will not contact you through anything other than email or their official accounts, which will all have this badge:
DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THIS OR SIMILAR ACCOUNTS AND ABSOLUTELY DO NOT CLICK ANY LINKS FROM IT.
report and block. i'd also appreciate it if you shared this post, bc that blog was JUST created and was already tagging a LOT of people, and i know not everyone has the scam-sensing instinct, even if this might seem obvious to some.

"Sorry i reported you" scam making it's rounds here.
I'm not even banned.
Vague details.
Doesn't just start with the reason for contact.
You submit help to www.tumblr.com/support or help.tumblr.com. NOT the links provided in the photos.
the proof of email photo is crunchy as hell. Looks old too.
Why do i have to contact them to confirm my innocence. lmao.
What is the scam? You rush to prove your innocence to the email and they will respond back to you needing to verify your login info and then steal your account. easy. Discord and Steam have a version of this too.
sorry to have to tell you this but if a stranger comes to your inbox or slides in your DMs asking you for your money with some sob story, no matter how tragic and convincing the story is, they are a scammer — especially if the story is obviously copied and pasted, formatted in the exact same way as the other 100 bots in your inbox
PSA: potential new scam
I don’t know if it’s a new surge of bots and scams, but lately there are a lot of blogs who reblog people’s posts with “tap here for more” link in big text. I looked through some of these blogs, and their blogs are just them reblogging a whole lot of people’s posts with “tap here for more” link. I obviously did not click on the link.
another thing I’d like to add is that these blogs aren’t recently made or empty blogs with no pfp or header. they appear to be normal blogs with pfp, headers, names, bios, fandoms, interests and such. so my guess is that they were genuine, legit blogs before they were hacked. and the hackers use their blogs to spread their link, and potentially scam more people, whatever the link is.
unfortunately it is a well known tactic bots and scammers use — hacking an innocent blog, because they know it’s more convincing than creating a new and empty blogs like before, and then using the blog to help them scam more people.
be careful y’all. if someone dm or inboxes you “I have something important to tell you 🥺 it’s about your account” block and report them. that’s a scam. they will try to convince you they accidentally reported your blog because they mistook you for someone else who scammed them, they may even tell you they have “already gave your blog to the police” then they’ll say something about “don’t worry. you can contact this person *gives you a sketchy discord link*” then “this person” will claim they work with tumblr (lie) and they will tell you you have to change the email you associate your tumblr with to the new one they give you. the second you do that, your entire account is gone. if you change the email you associate your tumblr with to their email, they have full control of your account. that’s how they hack people.
