𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍝 Theres some new seasonal dishes down at @pastaiolondon! I went to their @westfieldlondon restaurant this week to try them out. First up is a peach salad; sliced peach, Vesuvio tomato, salted ricotta, and purple basil. I think this has made me turn a new corner in my life. If there’s one piece of food I hate more than anything, it’s tomato. But I ate it, and I didn’t throw up 😳. I actually LIKED the tomato. The sweetness of the peach was a great contrast to the tomato, and the salted ricotta also added another element to balance out the tastes. The new pasta dish is a mushroom pasta made with Scottish girolles, garlic, parsley, creme fraiche and freshly-made egg yolk tagliatelle. I’m a big fan of this, mushroom has become one of my favourite foods recently and this dish oozes warmth and autumn. There’s also a new dessert, a twice-baked chocolate cake, which has elements of a brownie, and is quite dense (in a good way) with just pure chocolate. 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍝 I am in LOVE with the @pastaiolondon winter menu. I’m just going to jump straight in and take you through what I had: Nduja Devils on Horseback. That mix of sweet and savoury is beautiful, especially with that kick of heat from the nduja. Brussel sprouts Burrata. The creaminess of the burrata with the touch of citrus from the lemon, and the nutty earthy taste of the hazelnuts transform the sprouts into a dish I’d order again, and I don’t usually like sprouts. The truffle & burrata toastie is a little luxury with a generous helping of pure truffle shavings. I’ve never had a toastie with burrata as the cheese but it worked so well. Winter chanterelle mushrooms, king oyster mushrooms, garlic, white Wine, and parsley tagliatelle. This is a big dish, definitely filling, and it’s full of mushrooms. I usually like my pasta dishes with meat but it wasn’t needed at all. Spinach pasta cappellacci with autumn squash & ricotta, butter & sage leaves. Probably one of my favourite pastas I’ve had from Pastaio. It was delicious, so creamy. The Pannetone bread and butter pudding was beautiful. I honestly think I’ve never had bread and butter pudding in my life, and this has now made me a big fan. It was so soft and creamy and had the perfect amount of sweetness to it. It’s big, so definitely for sharing. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 | @pastaiolondon have launched a new All-In menu where you can try every main pasta dish they do in sharing sizes for a set cost. 8 pasta dishes for £45, and can be shared between 2 and 3 people. That’s not £45 each, that’s in total. It’s great value to split between friends and try a bit of everything. My favourite dishes, starting with my top choice was the slow cooked sausage sauce with malloreddus. If you love that meaty and salty taste then this is the dish for you. I couldn’t get enough of it. My next favourite was the spinach & squash ravioli, in butter with fried sage. Such a beautiful dish, and meat free. I also loved the Parmesan, marjoram, and tomato sauce rigatoni, and also the carbonara, which I’m not usually a fan of. The wild mushroom tagliatelle was also a top dish. Whilst I really liked the red prawns, the actual dish with spaghetti didn’t do too much for me, and the spinach pasta fell slightly flat for me. The vongole linguini with capers and anchovies wasn’t something I’d usually go for, and again wasn’t too much to my liking. But I think 5 out of 8 dishes was an amazing result and I’d pay the money just for them.
