Summary:
“Y-you’re leaving…?” Shinichi whimpered, voice breaking under the strain of his anguish. “But… you promised.”
There was a pause, the silence punctuated only by his own shaky, rattling breaths as he struggled not to burst into tears. Finally, the magician spoke.
“I did…” he conceded, reaching up to unlatch the window and press it open. A cold wind blew in, buffeting his hair and cape. “...but that was to Shinichi, not Conan.”
