He began to turn, fully intending to storm off, but froze. The ground had begun to glow. The light was crimson red and as he stared, it concentrated forming curved lines, with the two of them inside its borders. More lines of light burst forth, cutting into the ground a series of geometric shapes and intricate patterns.
'A magic circle,' his mind supplied in trepidation.
A red aura was rising from the circle, dancing in the air like flames, or maybe it was floating like mist? He heard chanting and knew it was Akako somewhere to his right, probably outside of the circle based on the how distant she sounded. He didn't actually check though.
