I'm really not fond of people blaming others for their failures or the fact that they didn't live up to their own expectations. When I sit and watch someone, that has had every opportunity to do well, but over the series of 3 or 4 semesters, has consistently blamed someone, or something else, for their, less than desirable, performance, it begins to irk me. You'd think they'd never kicked me out, gave me 24 hours notice, and made me, and a 6 month old, live on the couch of someone I hardly even knew, until I could get an apartment...and I still made a 4.0.
Consider all of the times you had free weekends but went on dates or played video games instead.
When you take control over yourself, your behavior, your emotions, and the situation, you begin to find that no matter what any one does, you can be successful. When you constantly look for excuses, you only find failure. I especially hate this because I know that this person is capable of success...
