The one thing empaths and those who like to blame all the evil in the world on narcissists and psychopaths don't seem to understand and perhaps never will is that society is simply a structure and government is a business. The government wants to make money or at the very least not lose it and to maintain the structure that keep society cohesive and productive.
You are simply the worker bee's, a cog in the larger machine, mindless in your day-to-day activities only ever concerned about the basic necessities and want everything else taken care of for you.
There is a game and a way to play the system, and it exists for the exact same reasons they want to live their life the way they do.
The so called 'system' is a complicated thing on the surface but once you really look into it, it all makes sense.
Take the legal and justice system for example. The majority of people seem to be under the illusion that its about truth and fairness. It's not. It's about preventing chaos by giving those who have been wronged the illusion of satisfaction. The court process is a theatre and you're centre stage. It's not about truth it's about who has the better story and the judgement is levied against your perceived contributing worth. The same crime that could get someone years in prison, another person gets let off with a fine, multiple times. The government wants your perceived value more than it wants to punish actual wrongdoing.
Many 'successful' psychopaths understand this very basic fact and many people who are in higher positions in corporate and goverment have connections to local law enforcement for those times when a slip up happens. The only difference between a successful psychopath & an antisocial one is that one learns to work inside the system, is able to delay instant gratification somewhat and use it to his or her advantage whereas the antisocial one rebels and doesn't understand the system they're in.
Normal people vote for that as they at their core know they don't have what it takes and want to live in ignorance of all the evil in the world even if they like to complain, you may even argue complaining is what gives their lives meaning as they distance themselves from that world.
