(Human) Crowley’s eyes in “What We Make of It (Shotgun Wedding)” by @charlottemadison42
There have been questions asked about the future longevity of the Good Omens fandom, and I'm sure I'm not alone among those who write GO fanfic in being asked if I'm "ashamed" that I've written said fics. I'm going to go ahead and answer both of these questions just once, and then that's the last I'm going to address these subjects. But first, let me preface with this (the only time you will ever see this name in a post of mine, ever again):
Fuck Neil Gaiman.
I am queer. I am a survivor of basically 3 years of SA and torture that ripped away my childhood when I was just 6 years old (yes, there's a longer story to the "basically" part, but that's my business). I don't trust easy. I don't let people get close to me, either physically or emotionally. I form attachments to fictional characters, not the people who write or portray them. I guess that makes it easier for me to separate the writing from the writer. But as a young author, back in the early 90s, people like NG were people I looked up to as mentors in the writing field. So to watch one of those people turn out to be no different from the monster who destroyed my life (sorry, but as a survivor of SA, anyone who murders other people's souls like that gives up any claim to the title of "human being" as far as I'm concerned) is another brutal reminder to be careful who I trust - that most people aren't worthy of it.
However, as an author, I am aware of something some people don't understand: fictional characters are their own people. They aren't merely a creation of whole cloth from a writer's head. The moment pen touches page (or cursor hits document), the characters take life of their own. I'm what's known as a "plotter" in writing. Meaning I plan everything out before I start writing, and in great detail. But invariably the characters take control, and what I end up with almost never matches what I had at the beginning in every detail.
So, to answer the second question (do I feel ashamed) first: No. Not even the slightest. In fact, I intend to continue writing GO fanfic, long past the end of the finale of the show. Because I am writing THE CHARACTERS. I have selected a facet of them, and their story, and I am letting THEM tell it. I'm writing for THEM. I love THEM. My connection to them has never, and will never, have anything to do with either of their creators, or any other hand that has touched them. My connection to the characters has always been (from my very first reading of GO back in 1993) between me and them. Just as is true of every other work of fiction I've ever loved.
And, in answer to the first question (what will happen to the fandom): I hope it continues. I hope it continues to be a bright beacon of the goodness Aziraphale sees in humanity, of the ingenuity and cleverness Crowley admires in humans. I hope we, as a fandom, continue to embody what Good Omens truly represents - hope, love, and community. Because our community has never been about NG. It's never been about Sir Terry, either. The GO fandom has been about hope, love, and inclusivity. About REAL community. And as long as it continues to be about those ideals, and our two beloved Ineffables, then I, for one, will be right here in the middle of it.
To my fellow Ineffable Fandomites, as always:
Keep Calm, and ❤️ on! 🐍🪽❤️🥂🏳️🌈
PS - Since it's now been done multiple times, and I'd thought before I wouldn't have to explicitly say this, but here we are: I don't mind reblogs. But if you do, please do NOT hashtag NG at all. I want NOTHING I have to say to give that monster any more publicity. Using my post to help him trend makes me literally nauseated. Please don't.
Actually I wanted to wait until my concept of my own Reverse Omens is finished, but I can't help it!
It's just too adorable!!! 😍😍😍
Just an FYI, Az doesn't really like hugs, so he's wondering about himself hahaha!
I just love them both so much, I could cry! 😍💖💖💖

Here’s my piece for the Good Omens Big/Small Bang (@goodomensbig-smallbang)!
I was paired with @snowfilly1 for their wonderful lil story called “No Different Today (Except in Every Single Way).” You can read it on AO3 here!
Story Summary: A few years into what should have been their happy ever after in the South Downs, Crowley loses the ability to perform miracles. Can Aziraphale help him adjust, and can they both figure out what’s happened? And is Aziraphale able to fight off Hell’s claim on his demon?
Tagging @goodomensafterdark for visibility!

GOAD Wamen Week Wrepost: Writer's Guild Presents Pass the Star
Written too late for last year's celebrations, here's a repost of some ineffable roller derby!
Title: Pass the Star
Rating: E
Chapters: 12/12
Word count: 57,616
Summary: Azalea Fell and Antoinette Crowley are on opposite derby teams. After a mishap and a trip to A&E, they find themselves determined to keep each other in their lives. Even while Azalea has growing suspicions that her team isn't who they appear to be.
Excerpt: “What’s your name?” The redhead asked, tossing a braid over her shoulder.
“What? You don’t think my parents actually named me Fresh Meat?”
Crowella laughed. “I hope not. I’d have to wonder what kind of parents they are.”
Azalea frowned as much as the split in her lip would allow. “They named me Azalea. It is debatably not much better.”
“After the shrubbery?”
Azalea nodded.
“Well, at least you’re both pretty, right?”
Azalea shrugged, keenly aware of the blush rising in her cheeks. “Your real name isn’t Crowella then?”
“Sadly, no. It’s Antoinette.”
“Oh, lord. You poor thing.”

Huge thanks to the mass of people who beta'd this for me last year.
How successful would Aziraphale…
…be if they decided to become a pro-wrestler?
