someone else submitted a rant about why crowley is not a dom and never will be a dom and so i have come to add to the steam-of-consciousness onslaught!
i think crowley tries to present himself as the dominant one but he and aziraphale both know that the demon is not the one calling the shots, at least when it comes to the two of them. crowley is capable of topping, but does he want to? trick question- he wants whatever aziraphale wants from him. bottom or top, Anthony “JActs of Service” Crowley is taking directions, not giving them. Is he a brat about it sometimes? Absolutely. But he is still going to do as he’s told.
aziraphale on the other hand really enjoys being in control in a way crowley doesn’t. crowley hates making the decisions, even if he complains when others make them for him. crowley likes to be the one who makes the plan happen, not the one actually devising and making the plan. aziraphale wants to be in control of what they do but acts as if he’s simply suggesting ideas when we all know crowley interprets them from anything between a request and a command.
so while i think crowley would top and enjoy topping, i think aziraphale topping him would actually break his little snake brain beyond repair. I think Crowley would be rendered speechless. Here is a quick portrait of what I think would happen the first time Aziraphale tops:
Aziraphale: wow, that was fun! we should try that more often! crowley, are you alright?
Crowley: *incoherent babbling and grabby hands*
Crowley topping? Crowley has fun. Crowley is satisfied. Aziraphale topping? Crowley is a shaking trembling sobbing mess who is EXACTLY where he wants to be. That’s the difference to me. Crowley can, and does, top. But given the choice, he will always choose to bottom for Aziraphale, because he ultimately enjoys it when the angel takes total control.
I also think crowley is such a nervous wreck half the time, he’d really enjoy being able to shut his brain off and let Aziraphale lead. So, again, it’ll be a cold day in hell when Crowley doms. In fact, the only way I can reasonably see Crowley as a dom is if Aziraphale requested it of him. Which would be kind of a form of submission in itself, no?
eeee okay yes so i definitely think crowley wanting whatever aziraphale wants is like a Thing for him. trick question is right he’ll do literally whatever will please aziraphale lmaooo honestly charming of him. i also LOVE the brat headcanon. crowley looooves to have aziraphale tell him what to do and then be like “no. NO. uggghhhhh don’t look at me like that. okay fine 😒😏” because then aziraphale gets all smiley and sweet and PLEASED. i also think aziraphale likes the pushback. it’s enrichment for him <3
and i can see aziraphale utilizing control as an outlet yk? because he’s very particular and very stubborn. he has strong opinions on how things should go and likes things a certain way, and since crowley is a safe person to express that with, he’s comfortable bossing him around a bit. correcting him and telling him what to do and being a contrary little bastard. sigh <3 i adore him. and i’m always so amused by the way he’ll suggest things in a way that’s actually not a suggestion at all. hinting at what he wants until crowley just does it. hehe. perhaps crowley WANTS to interpret it as a command. you’re onto something here anon.
also “break his little snake brain beyond repair” had me in shaaaaambles oh my god 😂 while being a top and being a dom are different things, i think crowley would definitely crumble in bottom-hood as well, yes. for similar reasons! there’s really something to be said about how desired you feel as a bottom, that the other person wants you as you are and not necessarily for what you’re doing. anthony j’acts of service crowley can have a rest (shut his brain off as you said) and still feel wanted. he’s pleasing aziraphale by offering himself and nothing more. very sweet.
because maybe! all those acts of service come from him being such a nervous wreck. maybe he’s worried he isn’t good enough or isn’t wanted. maybe he needs to chill the fuck out and realize aziraphale loves him for who he is and not what he does. bottom crowley as a healing journey!!!!
