Guidance for the Day - Remind yourself that you don't have to do what everyone else is doing

They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” 

But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. 

Now he waited for seven days, until the appointed time that Samuel had set, but Samuel did not come to Gilgal; and the people were scattering from him. 

So Saul said, “Bring me the burnt offering and the peace offerings.” And he offered the burnt offering. But as soon as he finished offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him and to greet him. 

But Samuel said, “What have you done?” 

And Saul said, “Since I saw that the people were scattering from me, and that you did not come at the appointed time, and that the Philistines were assembling at Michmash. I thought, ‘Now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not asked the favor of the LORD.’ So I worked up the courage and offered the burnt offering.” 

“They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.” - Matthew 21:7-8 NIV

“Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, ‘He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?’  ‘He is worthy of death,’ they answered.  Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists. Others slapped him and said, ‘Prophesy to us, Christ. Who hit you?’ ” - Matthew 26:65-68 NIV
