Currently resisting the urge to count my rows because I know damn well that I have only add two since the last time I counted and am no where near the end of this part of the project, my impatience just wants to cause problems 😭😭

Becoming a Conscious Scapegoater: Exposing the Shortcuts of the Primate Nervous System
When a behavior is automatic, it is largely running as a habit. The cue appears, the nervous system predicts the familiar response, and the response unfolds before reflective thought has much influence. People pleasing, impatience, defensiveness, jealousy, or compulsive reassurance seeking all work like this. They are efficient because they have been rehearsed thousands of times.
When you notice such mechanism it often weakens or even stops bothering you. Observation interrupts that efficiency. The moment you notice that you start justifying yourself the behavior is no longer completely unconscious. The brain has recruited systems involved in monitoring its own activity. Instead of the habit running by itself, another network begins modeling the habit itself. That creates a small but important delay. It is not mystical. It is simply that the automatic program is now competing with a higher-level representation of what is happening. That is why people often report that the moment they notice a bahavior, it starts to weaken. They do not necessarily stop the behavior immediately. Instead, they begin to see the ego "starting its song." At first they notice it afterward. Then during it. Eventually just before it begins. Nothing magical has happened. The timing of awareness has shifted.
There is another mechanism as well. Habits survive because they operate on simplified models. And scapegoater doesn't think that every time I've blamed others in my life, I've avoided punishment, so now my nervous system blames others. Instead the habit simply feels "It's their fault." Observation exposes the machinery behind the feeling. Once the mechanism becomes explicit, the illusion that it is simply "who I am" weakens. The behavior loses some of its authority because you can now see its causes. The noticing shows that it is just a behavior not what you are.
Becoming a conscious scapegoater can be more useful than trying to stop. Trying to stop often becomes another habit layered on top of the first one. The mind invents a second project. "Now I must become someone who never blames others." The old machinery is still there, only now it wears a different costume. Observation does something different. It studies the machine instead of immediately trying to replace it. We must also see, that sometimes seeing is enough because the behavior depended on ignorance. Once exposed, it gradually extinguishes. But some habits are reinforced by powerful biological rewards or fears. Addiction, severe trauma responses, or deeply conditioned attachment patterns may require repeated exposure, new experiences, environmental changes, or therapy before observation translates into lasting behavioral change. Seeing is often the beginning of change, but not always its completion.
Thinking about how James Turner is used as a barrier to Patience's hunting life, and how I want to spruce up his role now, if I ever write on these Wayward vignettes....
And you know, it's interesting how Claire and Patience very naturally butt heads, because Claire lost her father and if Patience's resentment for her father grows, I can see THAT being a pressure point. Claire would give anything to have her dad back, and Patience won't even call him, so don't lecture ME about not calling you guys.
Also interesting: both of their dads share a name. James.
Im realising how impatient I am whilst waiting for my claim for a few fests and then verification for a discord server
I can't stop thinking abt tadc 😭 I need the final episode out NOW!!! ;.;

Anyone else crave instant gratification because they expect to die soon?
I wanna learn Russian. Idk, a lot of music and shows I like were originally in Russian and I think it would be cool to learn the language. I wonder how long it would take to become fluent? Im a very impatient person, if it took too long I would probably give up lol.
K!ll me.
