“Y/N! Dad Y/N’s here!” she called out before enveloping you in a hug. When you and Scott first started dating you were afraid his daughter wouldn’t like you, but that wasn’t true. Scott knew that Cassie would like you. You were great with her. She felt like she could tell you anything. When something happened at school, she would call you and talk about it. Not only did Cassie like you, but you enjoyed her company just as much. She was a bright girl, very smart for her age. She caught on to things pretty quickly and was extremely honest when it came to you and her father. 

The first time you met Cassie she told you how much Scott talked about you, which made you laugh. Scott said he felt betrayed but you were relieved.

“Cassie!” You wrapped your arms around her and squeezed, giving her one of your best hugs. You followed her into the house hand in hand. She guided you through even though you had been here countless times. You arrived in the living room, where Scott was splayed out on the couch in a t-shirt and sweats. He was tired of being on house arrest but he loved it when you came to keep him company. You didn’t mind one bit that you couldn’t go out on dates. 

You bent over to give him a kiss but he pulled you down on top of him. “Hello gorgeous,” he smiled. He kissed you and Cassie giggled from a few feet away. He sat up, letting you sit nestled in his side. He put an arm around you and kissed the top of your head, something he did often.

“So what do you have planned for us tonight?” you asked. Every time you came over, Cassie would have something for you all to do. You had baked cookies during your last visit, which ended in a bit of a mess. Cookie dough somehow ended up on the ceiling and in Cassie’s hair. Of course that didn’t stop the day from being tons of fun.

“Movie night! We’re going to watch a lot of movies and eat popcorn all night,” Cassie answered. She looked at you expectantly and you knew she wanted you to help her make the popcorn.

You followed her into the kitchen and put a bag of kernels in the microwave. She got out one big bowl so the three of you could share. When the popcorn was done the smell of butter filled the air. A movie night wouldn’t be complete without candy so Cassie pulled out a family sized bag of MnM’s.

You carried the bowl of popcorn to the couch and Cassie sat down beside you with the candy. Scott wrapped his arm around you and looked over at you and Cassie. “Both of my girls are here,” he said.

“And we aren’t going anywhere.” You leaned over and kissed Scott’s cheek, making him smile. 

“Well what are we watching Cass?” Scott handed her the remote. She scrolled through streaming services, looking for the perfect movie to kick off the sleepover. She decided on watching Princess and the Frog, which was the best Disney princess movie in her opinion. You agreed with her, though Scott would put up a fight for Beauty and the Beast.

You three watched the movie snuggled together on the couch, letting Cassie squeeze between you and Scott. By the end, the popcorn was gone and so was the majority of the MnM’s. Scott got up to stretch and refill the popcorn bowl.

“Ya know what I think we should do?” you asked when Scott disappeared through the doorway.

“What?” Cassie grinned, knowing that whatever you had in mind would be fun.

“We should make… a blanket fort.”

Cassie’s eyes grew wide and she smiled, showing the gap from a missing tooth. “That’s a great idea!”

You gathered up spare covers and pillows and began to stack them into a fort. Scott walked back in midway through making it. “You two were going to make a fort without me?” he mocked being offended.

He sat the now refilled bowl of popcorn down and helped you two. You made three walls, leaving a way to get in and also see the TV. You spread out a cover and put pillows in there, making it a pallet for you three to lay down.

When the fort was complete you all got in. It wasn’t big but there was enough space for you, Scott, and Cassie to fit. Scott grabbed the popcorn and placed it in the middle where you all could reach. Cassie got the remote again and started to look through more movies. Scott said that he wanted to watch The Mighty Ducks, which Cass had never seen before.

You laid together side by side and watched the movie. By the time it was finished it was pitch black outside. Cassie had dozed off beside you three quarters of the way through and was now leaned against you. You checked your phone. It was nearly 11 o’clock.

Scott crawled out of the fort and took off the cover that was draped on top so you could stand. Trying not to wake her, you picked up Cassie and carried her to her bedroom. You laid her in bed and Scott tucked her in, kissing her forehead and telling her goodnight. You leaned against the doorway, watching with pure affection at how Scott was with his daughter. Seeing Scott and Cassie together absolutely melted your heart. You and Scott had been dating for a while and one day you wanted to have kids too.

He stood up and made his way over to you with a smile. He wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you against his chest. “What are you smiling about?” he whispered.

“You two are adorable,” you answered.
