Anyway, he found the whole thing mildly entertaining.

Wiccan: Witches' Road
Billy Kaplan, Wiccan and his boyfriend, Teddy Altman, Hulkling, are back on Earth after the events of Imperial. But after their descent turns into a crash landing, Billy discovers his magic isn't working, and in the middle of a magical upheaval, too. This leads him to the Baba Yaga, and the mystery of the Witches' Road.
I wish I liked this more. On the face of it, it's got an interesting dilemma involving magic and a queer couple whose queerness is not central to the narrative. It's got a plot with twists and turns, and a classical fairy tale vibe with characters who are not what they seem. All the elements of a good magic story are there. And yet...
I found myself frequently bored by this book. The title alone gives it the vibe of corporate synergy with Agatha All Along and the Witches' Road in that story, but like all stories that attempt to bring comic book canon in line with adaptation canon, the worldbuilding gets lost along the way. And while this comic had likeable characters I found their interactions stilted and unmemorable.
I didn't hate it, but neither did I like it: in one ear and out the other, or whatever the equal for the eyes. This is a mediocre outing for one of Marvel's preeminent gay characters; it felt like a book corporate asked for that the writer didn't want to write and the readers didn't want to read. I took no joy in reading it like I take no joy in picking it apart.
