Billy (2022) - I was recently contacted by @GROVEMADE to sample their new limited edition GROVEMADE x BLACKWING PENCIL KIT; a collaboration with the iconic stationery company.  . The pencil holder kit centers around the expertly crafted, solid walnut stand, which just looks incredible! It comes with twelve exclusive Blackwing pencils, and possibly the nicest sharpener I’ve ever used. It all looks very sophisticated and really shines on my desk! . I’ve not had a lot of time to spend with the Blackwing pencils, but they are renowned for their excellence, and I found them to be impressively smooth as they glided across the paper. The lead itself is fairly dark and on the softer side, so if you have a heavier hand, it might best be used for later stages of your drawing as it will smudge. Being accustomed to mechanical pencils for years, it was nice to feel a wooden pencil in my hand again though.  . The beautiful sharpener sits smartly into the holder, but can be easily removed for use. I found it fit comfortably in the palm, with a satisfying weight, and looks as elegant when outside of the holder as it does when it’s in.  .
