I think there’s something to be said of the fact that Captain calls everyone in the house by their full name (Katherine, Patrick, Michael) but doesn’t refer to Fanny even once as Stephanie. Either she hasn’t told any of them - but by the fact that she lived in Button House, it’s hard to assume none of them knew - or he knows she hates that name because of her mother. Something something understanding the constraints the world put on her and accepting her boundaries long before he had any character development.
