Matt screamed out of the living room while violently scribbling something on their beloved white board.
Jay replied from the kitchen, closing the fridge door.
She set on the couch, sipping fresh cold milk from her mug that said βfuck.β, handing Matt her mug with the inscription βI survived final destinationβ. Matt took one big sip and set the mug on the small table nearby, then turned to Jay sitting on a couch and clapped her hands together.
βOkay, so, new plan. Why did βis this itβ became an iconic album?β
Jay lazily scratched her belly, raising an eyebrow.
βI donβt know, because Casablancas wrote touching lyrics and cool riffs and-β
βWRONG! Because his father was a big and rich fucker. He had connections, got it? We need connections to get the show at The Rivoli! So hereβs the plan-β
She moved aside from the board and slapped the marker on the first point.
βFirst step: find a concert. Luckily for you, while you were making out with Gwen Stefani in your sleep, lazy ass, I found a band called βBra stripesβ and theyβre playing tonight at The Rivoli!β
βI wasnβt ma- bra stripes?β
βSick name, I know. I think theyβre like punk or something, doesnβt matter. So, second step: find a concert outfit. Weβre stuck on that one for now.β
βOoh, are we going shopping?β
Jayβs eyes sparkled with excitement as she smiled, looking up at Matt, whose expression wasnβt so bright.
βBird, weβre broke. Like, broke. We gotta improvise, just like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbeanβ
βAw manβ¦wait, how come? How much were the tickets?β
Jay shifted on the couch, looking at Matt, already knowing she wonβt like the answer. Matt fidgeted with the marker, looking down, and mumbled,
βI dunnoβ¦like forty five-ish bucks I thinkβ
βFIFTY BUCKS?! Are you out of your mind?!β
βRelax bird, itβll worth it! We gonna make fifty bucks per minute when we become famous!β
βAlrightβ¦gee, who do these bras think they are. And when is the show?β
βTonight at ten, we got plenty of time. So next, we come there, right? Having a good time and stuff, and Jay, this time you have the most important job.β She lowered her voice and leaned down, βyouβll have to be loud and bright so the lead singer notices you. Sheβs gonna think like βwow, that girl in the crowd is loud and bright! And sheβs also breathtaking gorgeous! We need to put her on the scene!β, so when that happens-β
Jay listened to the plan with her mouth half-opened, brown eyes never leaving Mattβs face. When suddenly she put her hand up,
βHold on- me? You do realise that Iβm likeβ¦ not all that, right?β
βWell Iβm not all that either, but weβre kinda limited here with options. Besides, cβmon, girls love you, youβre gonna do great. So! When youβre on the stage youβll need to make them sing one of our songs, then the crowd goes wild and youβll be like βif you guys wanna hear more you need to listen to our band Girlvanna the band!β. And these girls will want to know us and boom - we have connections. After all that weβre popular and The Rivoli is begging us to give a show!β
Matt looked excitedly at Jay, who was frowning and looking at the mug in her hands.
βI dunno Matt, sounds kinda sketchyβ¦what if they wonβt put me on the scene?β
βNot gonna happen. And you have no time to think, Bird. Come on, letβs pick up something concert-like to wear-β
