Ehlers danlos has 100% ruined any chance of a life I was supposed to have. I can’t tell if I’m just having a bad pain week or if my hand is genuinely broken, because my pain is often that extreme. Last week a vertebrae in my neck was dislocated to the point where had it moved any further, I would’ve stopped breathing and died. My drs couldn’t care less. And I’m supposed to somehow stay sane through it all 🙃

idk I think it says a lot that when both Spike and Angel are at rock bottom (Spike after Seeing Red, Angel on Reprise), they both chose to end their current state of being with very different intentions. angel wanted to lose his soul because he was in despair and he couldn't bear the weight anymore, not caring that if he succeeds he is putting everyone he loves, especially buffy, in harm's way. meanwhile spike wants to get his soul so that he would never be the type of man who could harm buffy. one was a moral agent, with a conscience, and the other soulless. but only one made the actual morally correct choice.

angel's struggle: "what's the point of having a soul?" spike's struggle: "how can I become worthy of one?"

I have two headcanons for how Dawn found out that Buffy is the Slayer:

During season 2, on Halloween, Dawn was one of the kids that got turned into their costume and spent the evening being Spike's evil little minion. When the spell wore off she was like "what was that". Buffy tried to lie to her but Dawn figured it out pretty quickly after that.

During season 3, after Buffy comes home from LA, Dawn asked her why she had to leave, and Buffy told her. Dawn was angry at Joyce for months afterward.

I love the idea of everyone having to explain what's going on in Dead Man's Party to Dawn just because I feel like it was barely acknowledged that Joyce told Buffy not to come back. Like, no one takes all the pieces of Buffy's despair--killing Angel, which no one knew the details of; the conversation with Joyce, which I'm sure not everyone knew all about; the cumulative crappiness of her life in S2, which probably no one really sat with but Buffy--and synthesizes them into what a rational reaction to her situation would be.

Explaining it all to Dawn (or hearing it explained to her) would really have made everyone sit with it in ways that they just didn't bother to.
