Very warm Tuesday morning 5km. Time not too bad considering pre-breakfast & the heat. Everything still a little tight and didn’t leave as early I I wanted as I was mobilising knees, hips and ankles before I went out. It’s the two castle race this weekend, I’m not running after running the last five years. So good excuse for a throwback Thursday. I always run with me brother @what_would_whippet_do as he lives in Warwick. Pictures from our first, one in the middle and last year. Plus my times. Last year is my current 10km pb. And for those of you who now the course it is a hilly one. So I can definitely go faster on a flat course once fully fit. Just 3km this morning after dropping the car off at the garage for MOT. Last run before poole festival of running. Felt okay, no strapping or support socks. Will be fully bandaged up for race day. Trying to enjoy a stress free week off work, not 100% successful but doing okay! Dreadful... I knew the come back would have unpleasant and difficult runs. And although I’ve always struggled to run after a day sat at me desk in the office. Tonight was really bad. It was hot, but that’s no real excuse. I wanted to run 5km, to stanpit car park and back. I got 1.5km in and both calf’s felt like solid stone. I tried a stretch and a walk, jogged a little more, but turned much early & then after walking and stretching some more; I walked back to the quay! It will get better I’m sure, but it seems so distant at the moment. That I wanted to get back to a Tuesday night run is a good thing, I planned a route, felt I was able to do it. I guess that is half the battle, feeling I want to get out and attempt it. I’ll have to keep plugging away. More cycling, more gym time. Turned in a cycle courier this morning, taking pate and toothpaste to the father in laws. Perhaps the only chance to get out this weekend so took a long route there and a scenic one back. Recovered fully from football, but deliberately taking it easy this weekend.
