#atrinary

there's a long story behind this, but i'll summarize it without giving exact details: i saw him talking about how people shouldn't be using the label 'atrinary', and since that's our primary gender label, we felt we had to defend ourself.

that was two months ago, and our respect for em hasn't diminished, we just feel rejected by an entire community of people (ouch). but we've concluded that the reason ey thinks gender arities are harmful is because of a fundamental misunderstanding he has about them:

gender arities are NOT about labelling what you ARE, they're about labelling what you ARE NOT. ey thinks they're just more boxes being slapped onto the binary, when in fact they're the REJECTION of said action.

i would involve him directly into this conversation, except ey blocked me on tumblr and banned me from eir discord.

if anyone asks, i can share screenshots of our conversation, however i was not able to capture the entire thing before i got banned. i remember that near the end i was forwarding a bunch of messages other people in other servers were saying about it, because i wanted to involve more people in the conversation, but he may have interpreted that as being rude, which is a fair assumption since i was likely frustrated about the whole thing. i hate having to feel like i HAVE to defend my identity.

Some people think in societies that accept two genders their binary is indistinguishable. that's not true.

sure, Beauvoir theorized male is the universal neuter

man is regarded as "both the positive and the neutral,"

so in the past in westerner pov from nothern hemisphere, some perceived the binary as "neutral positrois" and "woman".

however, where does the trinary begin and where does it end? where I live, effeminate individuals were socio-historically otherized by means of being undocumented, forced to asylums, sex work as the only option to survive, susceptible to homeless. if you were less favorabilized economically/financially, you were more likely to be desired by society as inexistent.

these people could be seen as third gender by anthropologists because their manhood were largely negated by society, as well as their womanhood.

however, I'm beyond these trichotomies, that's my right to say I'm atrinary and recognize that I'm not man/positive-neutral, not woman, and not a tertiary class/third secret thing.

for anon! this term is similar to midbinary, but with atrinary genders rather than nonbinary ones. i used a similar format to the midbinary flag, with the pink and blue stripes representing the binary genders and the orange, white, and green representing atrinary genders. the term is 'atri' from 'atrinary' + 'binary'!

(i'd like to note that this term is distinct from midtrinary, which is for nontrinary genders associated with one/both binary genders, which is why i didn't name it midtrinary!)

about the following point: if the trinary is male, female, and agender, then where do maverique people fit? this now assumes that you're either male or female, or you have no gender. hmm the binary does the same (either male or female) and we still use terms derived from it

1. A word like antitrinary or antitrinarian might make it sound more like you are pushing against the idea of a gender trinary. Otherwise, saying you're atrinary can be mistaken for the gender experience of being outherine.

2. We do use terms derived from the binary because the gender binary is so prevalent in society and a lot of us are affected by it. Like I said, we're trying to get away from the binary. It makes no sense to create a trinary in its place.
