once upon a time i thought
i had to convince everyone
i was worth loving, living, being
and every time i thought about it
a feeling deep down inside
twisted me up, down, all around
left me cornered by surprise
that anyone could like me
that i have to prove my worth
that i have to do things to receive rightful care
that should anyone try loving
me? well they best be prepared
for i was shown both yip and yowl
nip, soft luscious furs mean, run and hide!
they'll take my tails as trophies
once they trick me with a bag of
crumbs, a side of sweet poison, then is lights
for as a kit i was so hungry
whether kindness of a stranger
turned a trappers vain delight
ouch! quickly became the main course
poison daggers, stinging deep
a honeybee may give up their ghost
to the one the pointy end receives
it's confusing speaking puffer coats
skin, scarves, embalmed, formaldehyde
if i trust in just anything
i might find myself erased
or worse, ouch!! becomes die!!
there's certain things i learn
to watch for as a warning
that the sweet smile of a stranger
signals well ahead this great demise
this great glorious call of the
similar tongues, copper, silver, help us clarify
but through the twists and turns we find
and leaving feels bittersweet, the bitter lingers with the left behind
and when you look this good it's hard to resist
i know in what my beauty lives, but as others refuse to see it, that funny feeling hits as it does and
both so quickly can become
in uncertainty, these dark and scary times
which time is simply of the essence
it's just old bells and whistles
even those most brilliant clocks
both rot and rust with their silly ticky tocks
why the silly words of such serious subjects, emboldened among the rhymes?
if we're all in this together i trust i simply found you here
in this one, this life, this forever
i don't wait for hope, i'm living it
don't wait for beauty to be seen, for i am beautifully living
don't wait for words or crumbs or poison, tail pulls, don't touch! ouch! hands to yourself!
but for you dear friend, copper, you old hunting dog if you learn new tricks
here's something left to say to you for now
awooo! akekekekekekekek!! yip yip yip!!!
