1. Write ups
I like to write about things. For anime and manga I just write reviews on MyAnimeList, and for visual novels I post them on vndb.
Mainly I post about VN's. This is something I've developed over time and am still developing, but for any write-up post I will separate my feelings into two scores, Objective and Enjoyment. (This is the same way I approach anime and manga btw, it's just different because they're different mediums)
For VN's specifically, I follow a vague guideline that "the best route decides the overall game score" but this isn't strictly the case.
I've only been doing otome game write ups, and those will be under the tag #tabbycat's otome write ups.
The otome write up directory can be found here.
My current otome tier lists can be found here.
My current VN tier list can be found here.
I do plan to write about Fate/stay night (especially Fate and Heaven's Feel).
Objective
Exactly as it says on the tin. I judge pure writing quality, which includes romance, characters, relationships, character development, plot, lore. I look for any inconsistencies. And I pursue them relentlessly.
For VN's I judge art quality a lot, and the main way I go about this is by looking for consistency. Are the character designs consistent? Is the art for the CG's consistent with the art for the sprites?
Enjoyment
How much I enjoyed the route. No shit it's based on my personal preference, such as tropes I like and dislike, but more broadly, also themes and messages I agree with, such as whether or not it has misogyny. Even a throwaway misogynist line deducts points off a character.
Given that I kind of wanted to divide this category into a third one, "Value." Or to give it a nice prude and puritan flourish, "Morality." But the world isn't ready for that kind of scoring.
2. Fandoms
I will probably post a lot about these fandoms, especially if I have write-ups for them:
Otome games
VN's in general
Nasuverse, which includes Tsukihime, Fate series and Fate/stay night (Heaven's Feel and Sakura Matou superstan). Hot take but Kara no Kyoukai is overrated and kind of sexist
Kagurabachi (the only battle shounen I follow, everything else is misogynist trash)
Fullmetal alchemist (I've only watched brotherhood, the only relatively older battle shounen I like)
Shoujo romance (i haven't read much non-romance shoujo, yeah I'm uncultured, I go for the most tropey appealing manga that gives me all the heart-fluttery doki-doki feelings, it's like a drug and damn am I addicted to it)
3. Reblogs
My beliefs are inextricable from the way I interact with fictional works (my only solace), especially when they are being silenced on other platforms. I only reblog things that are relevant to why I view fiction the way I do (which are mainly regarding feminism), not the full range of my beliefs (for example, environmentalism is largely irrelevant unless it's an environmentalist manga or something).
If you want to see my non-fandom reblogs with my own comments, these will be under the tag #tabbycatcarnivaltickets. If you want to see my fandom takes and reblogs that I agree with, they will be under the tag #tabbycatcarnivalfandomtickets (and sometimes the two overlap depending on the topic). I tag every fandom reblog with the fandom tag they’re under. Note that some of the reblogs in this tag don’t have comments if they’re topics I don’t post a lot about.
I also have a tag for asks, #tabbycatcarnivalasks.
