if I had to analyze his distinct brand of stupidity, I wouldn’t classify it as remotely anomalous or unique. I think it’s actually pretty straightforward that his work has been overvalidated by the types of men who hold a similar worldview to him, especially regarding the role of art and how to evaluate its merits. it’s a self-perpetuating cycle of smug complacency that allows him to consider himself an artist of any value despite the fact that he makes nothing but derivative schlock designed to entertain the lowest common denominator audience possible. he has the gall to claim that his movies demand to be seen in the cinema to be properly appreciated, but the cinematography of said movies are always lit and color graded to look utterly drab and grey and lifeless. he’s praised for the cleverness of his writing when every single one of his movies is evidently written for the dumbest member of his audience, with at least half an hour of a bloated runtime dedicated to redundant repeats of expository dialogue that were already established in prior scenes of clunky, expository dialogue. people seem to think that the only backlash his odyssey movie is receiving is on behalf of racists who object to the casting of lupita nyong’o as helen/clytemnestra (maybe one of the only actually good casting choices in this movie, mind you), but having been forced to sit through the trailer during previews at an amc theater (I was there to see moonlight, which was being screened for juneteenth) this movie is honestly giving the atla live action. it looks so fucking goofy and bad and antithetical to the actual tone of the odyssey as a story. I read an except that apparently they excluded the “nobody” scene from odysseus’s encounter with polyphemus because “the joke didn’t work in translation,” which is idiotic for numerous reasons, and really encapsulates how ill-equipped he is as a director to adapt the epic. the tagline apparently being “defy the gods” is especially funny as a microcosm of his misunderstanding of the source material, considering nearly everything odysseus does is at athena’s behest. the casting of matt damon is just sjdnxjdbjfjfjfngkgng Like I honestly can’t even say it aloud without cracking up. sorry but I can’t take these white dudes seriously they’re all so fucking stupid they are sooooo stupid it’s beyond belief. how stupid they are

LibreOffice Draw: I don't ever really like having to open this but if you have to edit a PDF in detail it does work, and doesn't just vomit up a bunch of polygons when you give it text to work with. Better as an authoring tool than an editor.
