I'm so sorry for this
This is Waiting Room by Phoebe Bridgers and Suo (obviously from Suo's POV)
Sometime between brothers:
Baco : Seu idiota, pare de rir como um palhaço, eu tenho a Nato salva para você.
Suo: Oh, how cunning. I didn't know you were so wicked. Just kidding.
Rakta: If you want to fight, do it; stay there alone like the stray dogs you are.
Suolingo, my multilingual boy.
Exhausting yes, but now I’m thinking about Suo actually enjoying his two hour train rides. Because that’s probably the only time he’s alone and doesn’t have to worry about looking after other people. He reads a book. He studies his languages. Maybe he actually naps. Feels safe enough to eat a little snack bc he’s alone and there’s no one he knows around to see 😭
Suo losing his peaceful train commute time when he goes back to Bakoku-Gai 😭

this one's from last year but i still quite like it!! and it seemed...appropriate...to post it now
The X network, it's a whole other story, the fandom, do they need to get stressed out to confirm whether it's Nirei or Sakura who's suffering more? Well, I thought it was hallucinations or something. This is typical of many anime, where the human being thinks their character is ahead of the others. Come on, we can't generalize the pain of both, there's no such thing as who suffers more or less; both are suffering, they received Suo's departure in a stressful way; each is dealing with and processing it in different ways, and it doesn't make Nirei's or Sakura's pain greater or lesser than the other's, in the end they are devastated, sad, not knowing how to proceed, having to digest the lack of trust that they thought Suo shared and that would be mutual between them. Especially because each one individually carries their traumas and negative experiences; and only those who lived through the trauma know the dimension of the suffering, cause and pain.
Sakura has a very tragic past, and yes, he is suffering both internally and externally because we can see how horrified he is through his expressions. It wasn't easy for him to see people distancing themselves from him, being abandoned by his own father and family, the bullying and ostracism becoming normalized for him; since that was all he received, and carrying within him an unfounded guilt, which he unfortunately absorbed. It's sad and painful, and at the same time confusing for him, to begin to experience what love, affection, care, and protection are, to feel loved and also to be part of something that, for many years, he himself didn't know; because his own family guaranteed and inflicted that upon him. And after all this time, he managed to allow himself to receive the good and warm side that Furin was providing him, and out of nowhere, he lost his second friend, without understanding the reasons or cause, only to also see his first friend fallen and assaulted in the park. For him, it was painful to love him, to gain his trust, and to lose it so easily without having the right to, perhaps, try to find a solution for it.
Nirei, this boy who also went through difficult times, was beaten, bullied, and forced to do the bidding of stupid delinquents. Even without fighting skills, he's ready to get hurt for civilians and his friends; he's genuinely pure, making himself available to alleviate the suffering of his friends when he's also suffering, but he manages to suppress his pain and emotion to warmly comfort Sakura, whom he sees is suffering greatly and wants to do something about. But Nirei, who exactly is looking at his suffering now? 😭. He's suffering for Sakura, for Suo, and for himself too. 😢. He was the one who was with Suo, receiving the news that it wasn't an affectionate moment, but rather a farewell that became physically and emotionally painful; because he couldn't accept Suo leaving without a reason, cause, or explanation; Nirei was imagining how difficult it would be to tell Sakura that this would awaken negative emotions; But Nirei also didn't want to lose Suo right now; he wanted to be by his friend's side, training and building a legacy. It was unbearable for Nirei to hear such harsh words, to be physically and emotionally hurt in that way, to be inflicted exactly in the most painful place that reminds him of his weakness, and yet, refusing to let Suo go, humbling himself in every way, wanting to know where he was going and why he was acting like that, Nirei had his own truth, for him, Suo, it's easy to read, especially when it's about caring, you know why? Nirei was the one who spent the most time with Suo, going to school, training, and returning together on a certain route. And Suo was that friend who had a comforting word, who comforted with a hand on his shoulder, and it was Suo who noticed that Nirei was going through something when nobody else did. Sakura and Nirei are suffering, but each is assimilating and absorbing it in different ways. After all, Sakura is experiencing what it was like to gain a friend and lose him, since she didn't know this feeling of loss. Nirei sees Suo's suffering internally, is frustrated by not being able to stop him, and feels defeated because Suo doesn't open up and they don't share the same trust. Each carries their own individual pain, frustrations, and suffering. In common, none accepts losing Suo like this, because they already love him, they want him right by their side, and for sure, Suo's beating is confirmed successfully.
Ah, my trio, my silly ones, my boys.
After 218 dropped I've started seeing some people that wished the story didn't jump to Sakura right away and focused more on Nirei's side of the things as he was the one that had to endure Suo's beating and departure that night. And I think that's completely valid to think!! I want to see Nirei's side too! But I feel like we're forgetting that Nirei is a character that bottles up his emotions and doesn't address them unless someone directly asks him about them (e.g. we saw in the post-KEEL fight chapters that he only folded after Suo more or less cornered him and asked what was wrong.) This combined with the fact that he always puts others before himself (e.g. #2 him still talking about Suo in 212 until Kiryu tells him to prioritize himself first) AND his low self esteem that makes himself think like he's a burden to others tells me that we still have a while until we get to how he really, truly feels about this whole situation and what Suo did to him.
Right now, in Nirei's eyes, Sakura is visibly shaken and left heartbroken while Suo himself has something happening in the background and is suffering, and adding his own feelings to the mix would only make things worse. So, following this logic, he's shifting his priorities and doing what they and their class needs the most right now as "a worthy vice-captain" which is pulling Sakura out of his misery and getting Suo back. Someone has to be strong and it just so happens to be Nirei apparently
chapter 218 made me realize that Sakura's anger isn't really anger….
It's hurt.
Because the person who helped teach him that relying on others wasn't a weakness never gave himself the same grace.
Sakura trusted Suo. He believed in him. He probably thought that if something was wrong, Suo would tell him.
Instead, he's finding out that Suo has been carrying all of this alone and maybe the most painful part is that Suo never even seemed to consider sharing the burden.

if you leave this kind of comment on any fanfic writer’s work or if you think this shit is okay and isn’t the reason more and more writers are choosing not to share their works with your entitled ass for free anymore, you should be ashamed of yourself.
if you suspect a fic is ai and if that bothers you, quietly close the tap and leave the fic. no one forces you to stay.
It's incredible that there are people who invade an author's fanfic just to leave a negative message instead of adding something productive or constructive. Unfortunately, we have to deal with people who think this kind of message is "woke," honey, you're not causing anything but secondhand embarrassment, and I don't have much experience with Ao3. There should be limits to this type of negative writing, and the person making the comment should be banned when there is a recurrence of such behavior. And another thing, sweetie, if the author managed to write in a way that you noticed so quickly, it's because their neurons are good enough to create the narrative, and maybe it's you who uses chatgpt frequently and the artificial intelligence itself. Oh, just leave and be done with it.
Fanfic authors, you are all amazing. The time you dedicate to creating the story and putting emotions into the narrative moves me, to the point of making me anxious and expectant. 🥰
Thank you so much.
Nirei seeing the devastation and suffering of both his friends 😭😭💔💔
He’s handling this better than both of them. 😭😭 but he’s also in pain seeing them this way. OTL
This rollercoaster is not stopping any time soon
My little boys are not doing well at all, they are suffering a lot.
Winhero.
I love that Kiryu's hair and headphones are pink. My favorite color.
Okay, fuck, I was ready to suffer alongside Sakura, I'm glad that Ume and Hiragii pointed out that Suo was a good kid and that clearly there's something more to it and they're doubting Endo's info.
Thank the stars that Kotoha is back with her introspection
Momijikawa doing us a solid one, I'm curious to see how the trio of Nirei, Momijikawa and Sugishita deal with this.
Also, u think I was right and Sugishita might know something, Suo did say he wanted to talk more with him and maybe he did, maybe he said some cryptic things and Sugishita is now starting to realise what it was all about, aside from clearly wanting to shake some sense into Sakura, I'm not crazy to believe that he might say some shit about how Suo was not going to let him leave Furin and was willing to fight Endo for it, then Sakura can't give up on Suo without getting an actual reason from the boy himself.
Overall, I really liked this chapter, will be back soon to bring you guys some analysis with panels!

sorry, just one more thing. had to read the original jp so the knife could lodge into my chest better but this line
the JP reads:
「心が繋がったと思える人が出来たんだと思う」
"He found someone with whom he could think he was connected to, heart to heart."
once again, not a mistranslation + still feels faithful to the original, definitely no worries about censorship or anything. translation is just a painfully imperfect thing.
anyway, the tiny difference in nuance i wanted to point out is that while the English TL ends up reading with an emphasis on the "he thought" part like he thought he'd found someone, the JP reads with a far bigger focus on the fact that Sakura was able to feel that way with Suo. That Suo was someone who managed to bring out that feeling in him.
and i'm just a little dazed and lost and sad about it is all.
