this is such an oddly specific complement considering all the... Other thing that where going on lol. But in your newest art, the bloodied hand print was so good! I really struggle with getting smudged or other faint details looking good. Idk what you did but it looks amazing! Also the art is delicious as always
Aww thank you!! That's really sweet, I'm always happy when people like the little details.
I think a big thing with that sort of detail is to try not to overthink them too much, especially knowing they'll only be visible at a certain scale, or for a few frames, or where the lighting is darkest. It's easy to get lost in making a lot of details, realize you don't actually know how something is supposed to look, spending a bunch of time getting it perfect, only to find that no one can actually see it because it's a night scene, lol.
The blood smears (which I wish I could show screenshots but it's kinda pushing it, considering the subject matter) are mostly just playing through different brushes that I think looked close enough and trying to consider how it would have been spread around. So the blood around the mouth in the first panel is a harder brush, since it's more concentrated, but I use a smudge tool to kinda smear it away at the edges where it would be rubbed against skin and blend out. And the finger prints were just a default watercolor brush in my animation software I thought looked kinda spotty in a nice way, and trying to just tap/swipe the brush to give the impression of blood-stained fingers leaving an imprint behind.
Especially with very small or background details, a lot of times you're better off trying to find the simplest way to imply the thing you're going for vs meticulously rendering out all the detail. Brains are pretty good at filling in details, so sometimes the best you can do is just give the proper implication, and the audience will do the rest. It can actually make it harder to fill in the gaps when giving too much info, so simpler can often be better all around.

I hate when I get these even if it's censored all to fuck and you barely even get a peek of anything. Cause what am I gonna do? Dispute it? Type a lil comment like:

I try not to reblog political stuff too much on this blog, both because it feels shitty to pick and choose what deserves the attention and I like to keep a chill resting place when I can, but this is actionable and we protect trans kids in this house.
5calls.org makes it all super easy to pick an issue that you want to yell at your representatives over, and gives you a very simple script to either follow exactly or give you a jumping off point for your own talking points. Emails and letters are great, I send those too, but calls are much faster and cause way more of a disturbance, which is what we want.
I know making phone calls suck (I worked in a call center and it only made my call anxiety worse, I get it) and I know it feels hopeless to call, but your representatives won't feel the pressure unless enough of us apply it. Midterms are coming up, and if we shout loud enough, it could stop at least a few of them from signing off on something so unpopular if they're running for re-election.
One day I want to sit down and make a bunch of Um, Actually style questions but for Magnus Archives trivia. I think that format would go pretty hard, and there's no shortage of bizzare facts to be pedantic about.
Like, the questions are even called "statements", it's kind of perfect.

Aww thank you so much! Admittedly the dress I was the most worried about in a lot of panels, fabrics are always a bit of a challenge to make it flow naturally. Was also fun to play with some halftones to give the dress a bit more shape and make it a bit sheer at times, especially to highlight the dragon anatomy.
The tail made things awkward at times, ngl, but it wouldn't be Jon if their design wasn't at least a little awkward, lol

Sorry I've been quiet so long btw, been on vacation getting lots of rest after a fucking insane couple months of work, and chipping away at another comic when I can.
