٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´- The trio goes ghost hunting — though it seemed like no ghost got caught in the camera again? (´・ω・`)? Was the rumor false?
— Little tidbits
🌸- Sakura can vaguely sense spirits. His romance sensor shall double as a ghost sensor lol. Yes, he can poof a ghost's existence by punching them still
📒- Nirei can't see ghosts but he's a ghost magnet
🫖- Suo can see ghosts and they're all terrified of him
Ok so while I do think the tattoos in the new chapter would be real, it would also be really funny if they just had stencils or something else to paint them on every morning
Still trying to figure out which timing for Suo getting the Red Chanpuru mark is the most devastating, we have, in chronological order
a) Before the age of 15, assuming he might be an outlier in the ranks of the RC and joined earlier despite the age to join being 15
b) at age 15 exactly which is a few days to weeks (depending on when school started) before he first entered Furin. Which sounds painful, I don't have tattoos or sth similar myself but from what I've understood they need quite some time to heal and now imagine having to do the strenuous physical activities Bofurin does with a fresh tattoo (branding?)
c) he still doesn't have one. Idk man. Imagine being a manager at your job and doing a shitton for the company and they don't even get you a business card. Also, assuming from the way everyone openly wears it, the mark might be a badge of honor for the members of the RC. yeah
I've seen many people making fun of this guy who punched ume or not understanding the message conveyed through this scene, taking it as your usual scuffle so I'm gonna talk about it. First off, these panels are actually deeper than they look. It's not just some stupid guy punching ume like your usual storyline. It's an "immigrant" punching him out of "certain frustrations" and that changes the entire interpretation of this scene. As we've understood so far, Bankokugai is definitely struggling with money and food issues and the residents living in it have to experience a tough life because of it so when ume easily handed out money to solve the situation, it rubbed the man the wrong way because he said "do you think MONEY will fix everything!?" because MONEY is smth they don't have, that they're struggling with while living in a community closed off from everyone else. So ume easily offering it to "solve" everything went wrong. Another reason I think behind the frustrations is that he's an "outsider" because I think the bankokugai residents feel bitter knowing people use their cultures as tourism and bankokugai outside layer to enjoy different cultures and easily having access to money while the residents from said cultures are getting by with much difficulty and have been treated as outcasts by the society of the country they're immigrants in.
What the man did was wrong, yes. BUT it is very understandable as well as realistically portrayed once you look at the whole situation. Especially if we're talking about Japan where the wbk is set in, which is known for this prevalent serious problem that has existed since a long time. And also cuz he felt disrespected which made ume's actions come out wrong. The residents of bankokugai have felt how it feels like to be treated as outcasts, to have lived and to continue to live a life full of struggle in another country where you barely get by and have no options to move places while dealing with the rejection of the majority of the society of that country and having to live off in a closed space in the end managing by themselves, getting disrespected while their cultures are still enjoyed and must've also been through people giving them money (unlike ume's intentions) in a way supposed to mock or humiliate them or make light of their struggle and pain by shoving it at them as tho it would FIX everything they've been through, as tho of would take away their suffering.
The separation of bankokugai's inner layers with the outer layers and the outside majority community also contributes to creating this feeling of being an outcast/outsider and being separated from others as if they aren't the same as every other human. While living in their own bubble protects them, it's still a bubble in the end and it hurts not being able to pop out of it and knowing why they can't while still struggling in their daily lives.
Which is why the few highlighted words in the screenshot convey a lot. It conveys the feelings of all immigrants and any minorities people push away as outcasts in the real world. It doesn't condone the violence but sensei is using these panels to showcase a big message and meaning. And as I've said before, we're stepping into a morally grey territory with red chanpuru too, it's not an arc that's gonna be easy black and white. And aside from the morally grey rc, the issues addressed this arc are complex and not a one moment gone the next kinda thing.

Dawn is a distant dream on the horizon when Akihiko stirs.
Grey light hits his face through a tiny gap in the curtains, and he turns his face back into the pillow with a huff. Way too early. What had even woken him up?
There's a bundle of heat behind him, and he can just dimly make out Haruka's soft, snuffling breaths through the haze still clouding his mind. Still fast asleep like Akihiko wishes he was. He yawns into his pillow, rearranging sleep stiff limbs into a more comfortable position as he tries to drift back off. It's a rare day off and they don't have any plans, might as well make the most of it and stay in bed until they can't any longer.
Akihiko smiles softly to himself as images of a lazy day begin to populate his drowsy mind. Cleaning the apartment, running errands, all the other dreary little tasks that they were never warned would come with adulthood, all of that could wait; summer was over and autumn had started to creep in, and their bed was so, so warm and inviting….
He's almost passed back to dreamland when he notices it. At first he thinks he's imagining things, surely it's just the shifting of sheets and blankets with his movements, or weird little false signals from his half asleep brain, but then he feels it again — something firm digging into his back.
It doesn't hurt or anything, but he blinks back into wakefulness when it comes again; hesitant almost, like whatever it is is making every effort not to disturb him. Well, too late for that.
He yawns hugely and hears a quiet sigh from behind him; Haruka responding even in his sleep, too cute. However, there is a conspicuous lack of response from the other occupant of their bed.
Akihiko narrows his eyes at the wall.
"Hayato…." he doesn't raise his voice above a whisper, just in case.
Whatever had been pressing against his back suddenly withdraws, and Akihiko feels more than hears the drawn breath at realizing he's been caught.
"Sorry, did I wake you up?" comes the whisper back.
Akihiko sighs, rolling over with a grunt of effort, "It's fine, I —"
He stops abruptly at the sight that greets him.
Being the earliest riser among the three meant that Hayato normally slept on the edge of the bed, an arrangement that they had all worked out in silent agreement. Neither Haruka nor Akihiko particularly cared to be crawled over or accidentally jabbed somewhere sensitive first thing in the morning so Hayato could get out to meditate in peace. They didn't even have to think about it anymore, it just sort of happened naturally, even if they started the night in different positions.
But they had been a little…..well. Enthusiastic the previous night, and there was always a first time for everything, and realistically it was only a matter of time until even the most well laid out routine went astray.
Still, even with all of that, Akihiko has to pinch his mouth to stop himself from laughing aloud.
Hayato is laid out on his back like normal, though he's got the blankets shoved down and one his elbows propped up like he's trying to push himself out of bed; that would explain what had woken Akihiko up. Their bed isn't overly large and they had never needed it to be with their usual sleeping arrangement, but this, really, it was too much.
Akihiko feels his shoulders start to shake, his stomach tight as he holds in his mirth.
Hayato should have been more than capable of getting out of bed on his own even with the two of them surrounding him, probably could have managed it with only some light jostling and grumbling as he extricated himself from the cradle of their bodies, but.
Haruka has slept on his side for as long as Akihiko has known him, and last night was no exception. This time though….
One of his arms is wrapped around the pillow that he and Hayato are currently sharing, hand curled loosely in the pale green slip. His other arm has somehow snaked its way up and under Hayato's sleep shirt, exposing his stomach and the thin, fine trail of reddish hair below his navel. Both of Haruka's legs are locked around one of Hayato's, and Akihiko watches as they squeeze tighter when Hayato attempts to move again, Haruka's eyebrows furrowing in his sleep.
Hayato drops his head back down onto the pillow, craning his neck toward Akihiko. His right eye is hidden by his hair but the left gives him a pleading look.
"Aki-kun. A little help?"
Akihiko could help him. Really, he should be a good boyfriend and free Hayato from this most terrible predicament he's found himself in. The pillow under his head is really, really soft though, plush and warm, and above Haruka's steady breathing he can hear a gentle rain start to patter against the window. A chill seeps in with the blankets half off, and before Akihiko can think better of it he reaches down to pull it back in place and settle it securely across all three of them.
He shuffles closer until he's pressed firmly against Hayato's side, throwing his own arm over Haruka's so as to help pin Hayato in place. Haruka's expression softens into something serene.
Akihiko presses his forehead to Hayato's, bumping their noses together affectionately.
i can’t think too long about hajime umemiya or else i go clinically insane. what do you mean despite it all he does nothing but care for everyone around him. what do you mean he never wants anyone to feel alone. what do you mean itty bitty him asked if he’s allowed to miss his parents because he blames himself for what happened. what do you mean he saw a school full of delinquents and said “yeah i’m going to make those guys protect the town with me” and just fought until it happened. what do you mean. oh no. it’s happening.

Eye tattoo sounds angsty and whatnot but I don't think he'd run around with an eyepatch in Bankoku-gai if it were the case, the other members are openly showing their marks too after all
