Years later, I'm still thinking about Sam and Evan Misfits and Magic. The constant reassurances, the love (romantic/platonic/queerplatonic), and believing in someone so much left so much of an impact on me. There's a softness between them that's profound where I can't grasp the words to express it. While I am aromantic myself, I do choose to view the relationship as a romantic one because it's just nice to see a fictional Black woman in a happy romantic relationship for once. The ship means a lot to me in so many ways, and that one is there. I think their relationship is a good example of loving someone and the burdens that come with it. The level of patience they hold for each other and communication to meet each other half-way is soooo AHHHHHHH. It's so good, I love it.

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
