Vocab 75: Glib
adj [ɡlɪb]
marked by ease and informality
showing little forethought or preparation
lacking depth and substance
“How would you describe Stark?” Phil Coulson asks you when you meet for drinks after working with the mentioned hero. “One word.”
“Glib,” you answer, emptying your glass in one gulp.
“Easygoing? Superficial?” you nod.
“Both. He is a nice guy... Maybe. But his pride is... overwhelming.”
“He is the genius.”
“And thinks he is a paragon and utter perfection,” you mumble, as you lean back in the chair and allow yourself to finally relax. You’ve been under stress the whole day, and not having Stark around feels safe and peaceful. “He is ostentatious. And he almost burnt the house down.”
“As long as he is alive, our job is done,” Phil smiles, and you have no idea how he dealt with Tony before - Iron Man is perfectly unbearable.
“Are you some kind of zen master, Coulson?”
“No, I am just patient. And pragmatic. Remember - until Stark does blow the house up, we do not have to worry about that.”
