Watched Andor season 1 for the first time like a month ago and I CANNOT STOP thinking about a cool little detail from Ferrix - the glove wall.
Several times kinda in the background we see people (mostly Brasso) grabbing or replacing unique pairs of gloves on this giant wall at the beginning of the shift. The gloves donāt seem to go on in order (filling the wall top to bottom, left to right, etc) and everyone seems to know exactly where their gloves go. Itās neat to see how many people seem to be at work or not at these given times based on how many gloves are on the wall.
In coal mines, miners would use little round brass tags etched or stamped with a number that would hang on a peg board. The miner would take their tag with them into the mine and replace it at the end of the shift, so at any time a foreman or crew chief could know from the top who was in the mine- very important in case of an accident. Im most familiar with them in Appalachian mines, but I know they were used in other parts of the world as well.
This is what Ferrixās glove wall feels like to me. With the added bonus of all the gloves being unique AND the community implication that itās safe to leave your unique pair of gloves in this communal place- theyāll be there when you come back.
