Amen welcome 🎉
If Cody ended up being one of the CX troopers, I will be so disappointed.
Cody on Kamino meeting up with Alpha-17, hears a tubie excitedly exclaim a term he doesn’t know.
“Afaventii,” said Cody slowly. “Is that Mando’a? Never heard it before.”
“No,” was the rough reply. “Turns out tubies don’t enunciate as well as cadets.”
Chapter Ten
Summary:
Read on AO3
Excerpt:
Obi Wan woke to a clatter and a bark of noise he was too tired to actually decipher. He reached for Cody, only to realize he was no longer wrapped in his arms. Oh God, what if Anakin had stopped by and…
Obi Wan charged out of bed, grabbing a sweatshirt from the floor and throwing it over himself as he tore down the stairs. He ran to the kitchen and stopped short as he found Cody alone, wandering around his boxers and nothing else, a bag of flour exploded on the floor.
Obi Wan rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn’t seeing things and when that didn’t work muttered, “what the fuck?” as Cody turned around looking sheepish.
“I’ll clean it up in a minute.” He said as he turned back to the stove and flipped something with the spatula.
“What are you…” Obi Wan padded over to see a plate full of pancakes on top of the stove and three more cooking in the pan.
“I figured as you cooked last night…” when Obi Wan didn’t respond, Cody started to look worried. “You do like pancakes, right?”
Obi Wan chuckled, navigating around the flour on the floor and placing a gentle kiss on Cody’s cheek. “What kind of psychopath doesn’t like pancakes?”
Cody smiled, “my father for one.”
“Hmm. Well, that explains a lot.” Obi Wan mumbled.
He went to the garage and grabbed a broom, sweeping up the mess.
“I did say I’d get it.” Cody said with a smile.
“It’s fine. Just make sure you’re not burning my pancakes,” he replied cheekily.
“Oh?” Cody replied with an arched eyebrow. “And what would you do if I did?”
Obi Wan chuckled, “never you mind.” He replied.
They settled into a strange domestic arrangement as Cody finished cooking and Obi Wan put on a pot of coffee. Cody’s hands found their way under Obi Wan’s sweatshirt as he pulled the final pancakes out of the pan.
“I’m not sure the sweatshirt is necessary…” He muttered, his hands traveling all over his chest and abs. Obi Wan rolled his eyes and grabbed some plates. They sat down at the countertop as Cody poured syrup over his breakfast.
“So…pancakes. Care to share?”
Cody chuckled and shook his head, “it became kind of a tradition after Dad left. My younger brothers always wanted a fancy breakfast, and we couldn’t afford toaster waffles or anything, so we had to make do.”
Obi Wan smiled warmly, “that’s rather lovely, actually. You must be a good big brother.”
Cody shrugged, “for the most part. I think…well, hope.”
“Are you the oldest? I should know but honestly can’t seem to remember…”
“Nah, Wolffe is older by a couple of years. All the rest are younger though.”
“Hmm…and your dad…”
Cody laughed bitterly. “Oh, he’s long gone. Last I heard he was back in New Zealand, terrorizing the local bars.”
Obi Wan nodded and hesitated before finally getting the courage to ask, “and…your mother?”
“She’s around somewhere. Haven’t seen her since I was ten. Jango basically had a harem. That’s why we’re so close in age.”
“Well, if your father looked like you I can hardly blame them.” Obi Wan muttered, shoving another forkful of pancakes in his mouth.
Cody grinned at him, his cheeks practically turning purple with embarrassment. “Yeah? You think I’m sexy, Kenobi?”
“I think I’ve proven that many a time by now, Cody.”
“You think I should have a horde of fuckable guys lining up around the block?”
Obi Wan chuckled and shook his head, “You must do what you feel is right of course…”
“But?” Cody asked gently.
“But nothing. It sounds rather exhausting though.”
Cody slumped onto the counter. “Yeah, tell me about it. I’m pathologically monogamous these days. At least that’s what my brothers say.”
Obi Wan smiled and brushed his cheek. “Well, there’s certainly nothing wrong with that either.”
Cody brushed his hand down Obi Wan’s back and caught his lips quickly, they were sweet and syrupy and Obi Wan couldn’t resist licking the excess off.
Cody pulled away, his eyes still pressed closed before they fluttered open, the warm sunlight of the morning making them look almost amber. He smiled and kissed him again, more passionately this time, squeezing Obi Wan to him desperately.
“So, what are your plans today? I’m not working so by all rights we could spend the whole day in bed…”
Obi Wan smiled rather awkwardly. “That sounds amazing but…” he huffed out a sigh, “I really need to talk to Quin before I leave. I can’t…It’s just not a good idea to…”
“No, no, I get it.” Cody said, pulling away and shoving another pancake in his mouth.
Obi Wan felt very much caught between the past and potential future. “But…I’d love to see you tonight, if you’re free.”
Cody grinned, “What do you want to do?”
“I think you know exactly what I want to do, Cody, but how about I leave the planning up to you. I’ll be at your complete disposal.”
“It’s a date. I’ll just go grab my stuff and…”
Obi Wan laughed and shoved him, “Don’t be ridiculous. I’m not kicking you out. Besides, Quin won’t surface for another few hours at least.”
“So, what do you want to do?”
Obi Wan sighed and looked at the clock on the microwave. He refilled both their cups of coffee and walked into the living room. He hadn’t really been in this room yet, content to leave it as some kind of mausoleum to his father’s last day.
He placed the cups on the coffee table and grabbed a blanket from the basket by the side of the sofa. It had sat there since he was little. It was funny how while things had changed, some of the small things had stayed the same all of these years.
Obi Wan collapsed onto the sofa and patted the seat next to him. Cody sank against the arm and slung his right arm around over the back of the sofa. Obi Wan nestled into him, pulling the blanket over both of them and turning on the TV.
“Really?” Cody asked with a chuckle in his voice as his arm dropped around Obi Wan’s shoulder.
Obi Wan shrugged. “I haven’t had much downtime of late.” He said sleepily.
Cody brushed his cheek against the top of his hair and kissed him gently before settling fully into the couch and letting Obi Wan do so in turn. Obi Wan couldn’t understand why he liked this feeling so much. Was it Cody’s warmth, security, was it simply having a body next to him.
No. That wasn’t it. He didn’t want to do this with just anyone, not even Quin or Satine. He just wanted to do this with Cody. He felt a flutter of apprehension at the thought, as though it was a betrayal of some kind to both his friend and his ex.

Headcanons are so weird. How did someone ask me if there was any information about how Cody got his forehead wound, and I confidently said he got it in the bathroom because he slipped but he gives a different version everytime?
