Being a trans man is so strange, like as soon as you come out your experiences stop belonging to you. The misogyny you face isn't about you, you can't claim it is or you're misgendering yourself. The transphobia you face isn't about you, no one actually cares if someone transitions to be a man. The homophobia you face isn't about you, you haven't suffered like a real gay man. If you struggle with toxic masculinity being pushed in you, you chose this, imagine what it's like for cis men who didn't get a choice.

Somehow, no matter what, there is someone who has a "better" understanding of the marginalization or social stigma you experience, and they should speak on it instead. There is not one thing in the world where your voice needed.

my general opinion on what people should be "allowed" to portray and what topics they should be "allowed" to explore in fiction is that you can make whatever art with whatever themes you want but i'm also allowed to think the way you handled it was tasteless and should've been done differently. my negative opinion on your handling of sensitive topics is the price of admission for publicly showcasing your work. this is not a pro-censorship stance because i am not The Government

Honestly I'm going all in on transition. I'm treating becoming a woman like welding. I am building my woman skills as determinedly as possibly. I'm gonna do this until I decide I don't like it or I decide I need HRT lol

For makeup and clothes and nails and stuff, it's a lot like welding. Ask other welders. Get some good enough gear to start with but you don't need the top of the line. Learn the theory but practice well and practice often--practice is what will get you ahead. Run beads on plate drills and grind it off until it comes out well. YouTube has good tutorials.

i think the reason "fiction affects reality" trips so many people up is because they think it means "engaging with media that depicts uncomfortable subjects will taint your soul" when really all it means is that "fiction is meant to reflect certain ideas of the world intentionally or not, and it's going affect your perception of it, if you don't go in with a healthy bit of skepticism"

The Martian is probably the most realistic science fiction movie and even it is wildly unrealistic. I recall a NASA scientist being interviewed about the film and going "Yeah, the plan they say in the movie has a 50% chance of failure probably has more like 99% chance of failure, and in real life if there's more than 5% chance of failure we cancel the mission."
