still kills me that after several hours in her company with very different behavior, speech patterns, and mannerisms, the Scoobies didn’t know that Buffybot wasn’t Buffy until the real one walked through the door. while Spike, beaten bloody and barely conscious, nearly unable to move or see, can identify the real Buffy in a second even as she is consciously imitating the bot to every last detail. true love is seeing, and he sees her more than anyone else.

The way Spike thought the gang didn’t tell him about their plans to resurrect Buffy not because he would have stopped them (he would not) but because he never ever would have let them put her back in the ground if she came back wrong is so so so loud… the way he rapidly escorts himself out of the house when he realizes what they’ve done because he doesn’t want to cause a scene in front of a clearly traumatized Buffy…the way he immediately sees himself out because he would rather exit the presence of his yearned-for beloved than hurt her

The Buffybot is like. What if I made the grossest most vile act of twisted obsessive love. And then the rest of you were all forced to love it too because that’s all that was left of me. What if the “not real” little sister cuddled up to the “not real” older one. What if the demon who made it to love was the only one who refused to (and what if it was aware of that!!!). What if she haunts the hallways of our home with the face of the one we all loved and has no comprehension on what this means.

I’m a big believer that the parallels between Buffy and Dru never stopped they just got less obvious when Dru wasn’t on screen, and since I just finished rewatching the end of season 5 can we talk about how when Buffy went catatonic she mentally retreated to the perceived safety of being a child playing with a doll? Can we talk about how that happened because she felt responsible for the supposed death of her sister? Becuase yeah I have some thoughts about that
