Again, exactly.
this might be a hot take but im thinking about you's ending and honestly my biggest issue with it is not joe's fate necessarily but the lack of joe's perspective in the end. the beauty and the horror of the show is that it was alarmingly in his perspective and voice and throughout the show they did play with other povs of course, but i think they didn't essentially have to make bronte a co main character in season 5 like why is the story suddenly about her and her journey and i never thought id say that about a female character but imagine if like if breaking bad s5 was mostly about lydia or some shit idk i think it's a good message at the end of you where it's like anyone can be a victim but i really wish it was more personal, that we were in joe's head more and they could drag out his trial and ending more because i do actually think his final inner monologue in jail to radiohead's creep is so excellent a final scene it made me wonder if they came up with it and then wrote an ending around it and again i do think that generally taking back the narrative is a nice concept but it's complicated because if they wanted this theme to survive they would have to sacrifice a possibly very interesting and complex pov from joe leading up to his fate and i understand that he'll never change and he sort of went through this with "rhys" last season but joe was such a good antihero protagonist practically iconic i just think it's very telling that this show went with a very lifetime ending being like a psa or whatever where they have to scream the moral at you because the audience kept romanticizing joe goldberg so much but it's like how dead is media literacy where instead of continuing this very interesting narrative through this character's warped lens we have to create a very swift and very loud ending like we can still get the same message across without UGH WHATEVER im wrong and stupid but you do get what im saying right like the reason why i dislike bronte is not because of anything she does or says necessarily but how the show has used and depended on her to reframe the show like I KNOW SHES MEANT TO BE THE AUDIENCE OF THE SHOW but they didn't do it in a way that felt very meaningful or not empty so to speak like historically with this show the use of his narration has actually made US the loves of his lives because we saw all the terrible shit he did and we kept watching anyways and his narcissistic ass never wants to leave us because we are essentially perfect so it was just disappointing how the show felt so insecure they couldn't even risk exploring joe further at all and maybe there's nothing there. but i dont care ugh i dont know
because i wanna be your boyfriend!

I've always wanted to talk about how the gilmore girls fandom dismiss the parentification rory faced just bc it came in a sparkly pink label where she got to enjoy other perks like eating whatever she wanted and getting cool clothes and books.
now this is NOT lorelai slander, she's a flawed but well intentioned mother, and she did the best she could. I just wanna tap into the psychology of it all and how the fandom treats rory so unfairly.
the fandom is all about nuance and "two things can be true" unless it comes to rory and are just devoid of any empathy towards her even when she was a teenager! the scene where lorelai drags rory to a trip after the max incident was the most annoying thing ever for me bc of the lack of empathy people have for her.
maybe it's extra triggering to watch the responses for me bc my mom often treated me like a therapist too and would get upset when I acted like my age and refused to play her emotional caretaker (she also did the waking me up in my sleep to emotionally dump on me thing 😭)
but rory dealt with the situation the BEST she could for her age! she didn't ask lorelai about max the whole trip and only did when they got into bed, lorelai gets angry when she's not being allowed to sleep (which is something she literally did to rory like hours before) and flips the switch to teenage daughter after treating her like a best friend up until that point, how is rory not supposed to be confused? lorelai blurs the lines like crazy here, rory is her teenage daughter who she pulled in the middle of the night to help her get over the breakup, but also didn't share details, but also wanted rory to just go along and not be upset as a child.
two things can be true, lorelai provided for rory, made sure she had everything, and loved her, but it can also be true that rory was often put in situations where she had to take over the emotional caretaker role and wasn't allowed to be upset at situations or let her emotions out. she was expected to be the mature one in their relationship.
the scene was the perfect example of why rory turned out to be such a people pleaser in the later seasons and I wish the fandom understood this
people deny that she was parentified bc "lorelai didn't intend to" and it would make her look like a villian, but parentification isn't always intentional / or some calculated move. lorelai didn't mean to hurt her, but you don't have to mean to hurt someone to hurt them.

sex literally sells
James Marsters in 1997, manically depressed with a new born baby, extremely broke and desperate to do just about anything for a paycheck, ready to debase and humiliate and whore himself to access healthcare for his son : “ what if I just play a cunty vampire on a cult teen show and change the trajectory of vampire media forever?”
i dont mean to victim blame but why do these vampires keep talking to daniel molloy when they know he's daniel molloy
They think they can outsmart him just because he’s a baby
skins shorts/unseen making me crazy oh ok theres three seasons of character development in here and you kept the series 4 you had ...? what the fuck
one of my favourite guilty pleasure tropes is when the married couple has no other friends and one is like no we have to make other friends and the other is like but i dont wanna you're my friend
