i think about the whole “orpheus looks back and eurydice knows she’s loved” thing and i think about anakin. i don’t think it’s quite the same but it’s the whole thing about how the reason why he did the stupid thing is that this is the person he is and he loves her so much he can’t even avoid looking at her. with anakin it’s like, ok you can argue that anakin could have just ignored his dream, he could have calmed down and not given into his insecurities, but then he wouldn’t be anakin skywalker, who loves padme amidala. padme falls in love with him because he cares so deeply for people and he has to save everyone. he was never going to be nonchalant. anakin loves padme so much he sells his soul. even if it was more about power or whatever, there truly wasn’t a line he was unwilling to cross. but he couldn’t even pretend like he wasn’t losing his mind about losing her to save her.
