So many TV shows/movies depict the Epi Pen as a total solution for anaphylaxis...it's not. The Epi Pen gives you 30 minutes to get to a hospital where they can save your life. TV makes it look like you just have to use the Epi Pen and then the crisis is over. Do people without allergies or a loved one with allergies know that an Epi Pen only buys you time? The more I see this on TV the more I worry...

Omg so much this! I have to use my epipens about three times a year and my doctor recommends I shoot both of them in my thigh and then call an ambulance! They are a STABILISER not a cure!!

The library consisted of thousands of scrolls and books about mathematics, engineering, physiology, geography, blueprints, medicine, plays, & important scriptures. Thinkers from all over the Mediterranean used to come to Alexandria to study.Most of the major work of civilization up until that point was lost. If the library still survived till this day, society may have been more advanced and we would sure know more about the ancient world.

I’ve had many friends come out as trans over the last three decades. The people they become after their transition have struck me as happier, more centred, and more who-they-always-were-only-more-so than the versions of them that I met to begin with. I’m always impressed by their bravery in the face of a society that at best doesn’t make transitioning easy and at worse can be actively, even murderously, transphobic.

Two years ago, I had a Deaf girl show up in my drivethru on Halloween. Her mom was kind of sad when I tried to offer the girl candy, and you could tell it’d been a rough night. I asked her to get the girl’s attention, and then signed to her the way I learned from those top gifs. She started laughing and clapping her hands at once, and when I held out the bowl of candy she was DELIGHTED. I think there’s a very serious possibility I was the only person all night who was able to share with her that way.
