Tarvek, Violetta, and Anveka raised by jaegers WHEN.
(Yes, I know, when I write it as part of the Agatha Heterodyne and the jaegergeneral gandparents AU.)
one thing I wish people understood about tumblr posts is that they are not confession booths. if you see a post calling attention to the fact some behaviour patterns may actually be racist or misogynistic or transphobic or anything else you don't actually have to go into op's replies or tags to tell them You Personally have this patterns for detailed unproblematic reasons. I can't speak for the op of every post obviously but the point is likely to make people look at themselves critically and think about why they do the things they do. and if you're capable of introspection and understand that a post does not apply to you, the correct thing is to move on. you are just not its target audience

Not to be a bitch but sometimes people engage with fiction in the most boring way possible, and nowhere is this clearer than in videogames. Like what you mean you hate a character just because they were kind of abrasive when speaking to the player character? "They were mean to me" and it didn't occur to you to wonder why? Like, what might their attitude toward you reveal about the world? About the social dynamics within it? About their own perspectives and backgrounds and personalities? Does it even occur you to ask? Would you only have liked them if they bowed to your presence and talked about how great you are? Like I'm sorry but you're so boring. How boring fiction would be if it cathered to you
Add the additional layer of thinly-veiled racism. If a character of colour is "mean to you," what they've done is unforgivable.
If a white character is "mean to you," they're "misunderstood" and need to be dissected to find the heart of gold lying underneath all that lack of melanin.
the detached brutality of all these “women need to have more babies” thinkpieces man
"christian characters in movies are poorly written because the writers are atheist" "atheist characters in movies are poorly written because the writers are christian" stop fighting. all human experience is poorly written in movies because the writers are californian
Dear internet: If I want to know how to clean something, "don't let it get dirty" is not a helpful response. As a note.
The answer to "How did these Ancient People do this????" is basically always
1. A lot of dudes. Just a ton of fucking people from beginning to end of the process.
2. Ancient people weren't stupid, they just figured shit out the same way we do: fuck around until you find out.
3. We're gonna plan this out and it's gonna take ten fucking years, and you will cope.
4. Sticks and string are surprisingly versatile and can be used for a variety of purposes, like moving stuff and making sure things are even and go in the spot you wanted to put them in!
5. I want to make this easier and more efficient to move. If I put this on the round thing and push, it will move. If I put this in water, it will move. If I get some animals and rope and have a whole bunch of them drag it, it will move. All of these things are a better option than one guy trying to pick the whole fucking thing up.
"I'm not calling the people who believe in this conspiracy theory racist" I am. They're racist. Maybe not out of malice, but the fact that they believe in this is in itself racist. These conspiracies are always about brown people. Machu Pichu, the Pyramids, Göbekli Tepe, Easter Island, it is ALWAYS POC. It's never the Parthenon, it's never the Colliseum, despite the fact that these were built around the same time as some of the other sites these conspiracy chucklefucks like to throw around, it's never something fucking European. It's always "primitive people" with "stone tools" and "no understanding of modern engineering" so "clearly someone must have taught them this or given them the technology because CLEARLY they were just too Primitive and Savage to figure it out themselves." Fuck off with that shit.

One of my favourite photos from my trip to Warsaw in 2006
[ID: Bronze statue of a woman brandishing a sword above her head; along the length of the blade are perched five living sparrows /end ID]
OP: Summer is here, and little animals have shown up on lotus leaves.
Her case shows how abortion bans have left hospital lawyers, not doctors, deciding who gets care — and how lawmakers and regulators have fai
Yep I'm not shutting up about the fact that women--including Hillary Clinton--warned everyone things like this would happen 10 years ago, and were screamed at for "scaremongering" over SCOTUS. And now we keep seeing stories like this and the only people who seem to care are those very same women who knew this would happen way back in 2016, because everyone else a.) can't face what they did during that election and b.) genuinely does not care, because they don't view misogyny as a real form of oppression. Young women today have fewer rights than their mothers but are treated as hysterical bitches for daring to be outraged about that, as men scream and cry that Democrats don't coddle them and their uwu needs uwu enough
(The article isn't shy about mentioning the fact that the woman featured in the story is a Republican who couldn't believe the ban applied to her, too. This is necessary context, but soooo many left-leaning men will respond by saying "bitch deserved it!!!" because too many men fundamentally think brutalizing a woman's body is an acceptable form of punishment. Anyway I both loathe Republican women and think no woman should have her body controlled/denied necessary medical care by the state)
After years of meaning to read it but never seeming to have the time, I finally started reading "How To Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. I've been told by countless people that this book is the ultimate handbook on how to talk to and deal with people.
I'm not far in, but so far it's been pretty interesting and insightful. This book is almost 100 years old but so far everything I've read seems to still hold up today.
I've had a few people message me asking about more resources on how to improve their social skills. There's always r/etiquette (I don't even have a reddit but I find myself lurking) but, if you're looking to read something to help brush up on your social skills, I can so far recommend "How To Wind Friends and Influence People"
Although, take my recommendation with a grain of salt because I haven't finished it yet. But I tried looking up if there was any criticism for it and had a hard time finding any. It is slightly more focused on social skills for a business setting, but honestly those skills can transfer to just about any social setting. (such as presenting your views and opinions to people in a way that doesn't make people feel attacked, and generally making people feel comfortable and at ease around you)
If there was one book I would suggest to everyone on here, Twitter (or X or whatever) and everywhere else on the internet where people lash out at strangers for no reason, it would be this book.
Because one concept it keeps returning to is that people do not like people who lash out at them, people who criticize them, people who scold them. People also do not listen to people who lash out at them, criticize them, and scold them. If you want people to like you, and people to actually listen to you, you should start by not doing that.
@2ndgengeek thank you, gonna go ahead and add this to my to-read list :) also as an FYI for any of my followers looking for more sources on manners / etiquette / social skills
@connanro also adding this to my reading list (and reccs for books on manners to my followers), thank you!
It's been ages since I read it and it is older, but What Does Everybody Else Know That I Don't? by Michele Novotni is specifically aimed at people with ADHD. Some of it is hella basic, but in all honesty it's shit I didn't know until I was an adult.
How did a radical leftist and unapologetic fascist get over their differences and become friends? The story of their shared antisemitism will warm your heart…

The binturong of sick jumps
It is just now occurring to me the implications of The Beast Of The Rails attempting (and possibly capable of succeeding) to take over Castle Wulfenbach, a giant vehicle unbound by such petty constraints as rails or monks.
With a fuckoff huge death ray.
This may prove problematic.
