in love with this medieval art where this lady has been shot by an arrow and just looks so unimpressed
oh noo...

hi yes hello what the fuck is metrosexual lmfao
It's hard to explain to zoomers just how insanely homophobic the early 2000s were. If you were male, and like, washed your hair regularly, people would call you a faggot.
So, dudes who washed their hair and wore button ups developed the term "metrosexual" which meant "I care about my appearance but I am attracted to women and don't have sex with men."
And not just "oh people called you gay to be mean" like they literally thought you were homosexual and hiding it. Women would literally be like "damn, I was super attracted to him, but I heard he wore shorts more than twice in a week, so I guess he must like men."
you couldn't even wear a scarf. the scarf made you gay.
(circa 2008)
Btw the Katy Perry clip above is from her first single "Ur so gay"
Early 2000's were so homophobic that I had a friend tell me he loved his father and immediately followed it with "no homo though."

a body count not as in homicide nor as in sexuality but as in the trail of people from my childhood and adolescence i shouldβve been a better friend to and taken better care of but i was too busy being caught up in my own heartache to recognize their own and therefore our relationship tapered off in an extremely unsatisfying way that continuously manifests itself as a thrumming sense of grief in my chest. anyway which restaurant chains have the best free pre-meal bread?
Back Radio Pirates: The Pensacola pilot on Kickstarter
I'veΒ loved animation my whole life. I often wish more shows like Hey Arnold and Daria existed for the rising generation of kids - and that there were more stories out there that explored what it felt like to be a weird kid at the turn of the millennium. On these fronts, I have a really good feeling about Radio Pirates, the pilot for new series Pensacola, which is searching for backers on Kickstarter until August 16.
Back Radio Pirates on KIckstarter
Pensacola is all about tween best friends Rocky and Margo. Per the Kickstarter page: "They are grappling with the onset of puberty, and like many their age can be dramatic, passionate and unwittingly bear the brunt of undiagnosed ADHD. They live in the non-existent Pensacola, Indiana, in proximity to long stretches of widespread industrial and agricultural plants covering such riveting exports as corn and automotive parts. Aside from the occasional strip mall and poorly maintained public park, these girls don't have that much to do. Itβs fine, though. They know how to make their own fun."
In Radio Pirates,Β Margo hears a song she loves on the radio, but can't remember a thing about it - not even how it goes. The friends set off to try and find the song for themselves, searching through old attics, hip music stores and even the internet ... managing to piss off everyone they meet in the process.
Reading overΒ Insta posts from the series creator liquidcultureshock on the DNA of the series, I feel unbelievably excited. The influences are absolutely peak (Stand By Me! Ed, Edd n Eddy! Y2K Disney! Laverne and Shirley!). More than that, the creative team are so thoughtful and deliberate in how they explore Y2K tweenhood, making something which can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike.
The Kickstarter is live until August 16. I've already pledged - I hope you will too. I really, really want to see Radio Pirates - and the rest of Pensacola Season 1, too.

pushing back against oldest child stereotypes by making unwise choices and not being dependable
refusal to participate due to self consciousness is actually more embarrassing than participating. it took me a very long time to figure that out. abject fear of embarrassment is actually causing you to do things that are more embarrassing than what you fear. you are gonna be embarrassed anyway. let go and be free
