Batlantern AU

Following the Death of Hal Bruce is at an all time low.

Not even Alfred or Dick can reach him.

Batman is angrier, self destructive and is taking his grief out on Gotham.

Which makes Tim's intervation all the more paramount.

It is slow, but thanks to Tim Bruce is slowly putting himself back together.

Tim becomes Robin because Batman needs a Robin, and Gotham needs a Batman.

A few years pass.

Red Hood makes his debut in the Gotham criminal world.

He is calculating, dangerous and knows exactly how Batman functions.

He taunts Batman, evades him and on occasions, outplays him.

Batman is at his wits end. Red Hood knows his tactics, his plans, and his way of thinking. It's like he's been inside his head.

He doesn't know anything about whoever is under the mask, yet this level of familiarity cannot be a coincidence.

It isn't until the Joker gets involved that Red Hood revealed his identity.

It's Jason, Bruce and Hal's Jason, Batman's 2nd Robin. It's their son.

Jason, bitter and resentful tears into Bruce.

It appears that Hal, in his madness, was successful is resurrecting Jason.

His attempt to rewrite reality has brought Jason back, though only partialy.

He crawled out of his own grave, mind fuzzy and memories unclear. He barely knew his own name.

Jason was found by none other than Talia Al-Ghul, who took him back to the League of Assassins and dropped him in the pit.

When Jason's mind was whole again he demanded to be taken to his dads. Talia had to break the news to him.

The Joker is still alive, and Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern, was dead.

Sometime after Jason's death, Coast City utterly destroyed. Hal went mad with grief.

He massacred the Green Lantern corps, stole their rings and attempted to rewrite the universe.

He attempted to bring Jason back.

Of course, the Justice League had put to an end to his plans. Batman helped the League stop Hal.

Hal was killed in the confrontation.

Talia believes that's the reason for Jason's halfway resurrection. That Hal was stopped before Jason fully recovered.

In Jason's mind, Bruce didn't avenge him, and stopped Hal from trying to bring him back.

Bruce failed him, Bruce failed Hal.

Her mother is African-American and she looks more like her than she does Bruce.

The only physical thing she got from Bruce was his nose.

Hero name: Emmissary

Real name: Celestine Martha Hayes (formally Wayne), nicknamed Tina.

Family: Meredith Hayes (Mother), Bruce Wayne (Father), Dick Grayson (Foster brother), Jason Todd (Foster brother), Damian Wayne (Half-brother).

Powers: Celestial powers (healing, purification, anti demonic)

Bruce and Meredith were friends in their teens and eventually dated and married. Meredith is aware and somewhat supports Bruce's crusade but she made him swear to never involve any children they have in it. Bruce agreed and they get married.

Sometime later, Celestine Martha Hayes is born, 2 years later Dick Grayson witness' his parents death and Bruce takes him in.

Meredith quietly protests.

Dick finds out about Batman and Bruce makes him Robin.

Meredith loudly protests.

It was their biggest fight yet, and sets up the foundation of their eventual divorce.

Meredith and Dick have a cordial relationship, but Meredith does encourage Dick to befriend little Tina.

Little Tina is 2 and happy. When she was 8 Dick leaves the Manor after a big fight between him and Bruce.

Jason Todd moves in, becomes the 2nd Robin. Meredith calls out Bruce's behavior, they fight again and consider separating. Jason and Tina become attached at hip. Dick comes back to hang out with his two siblings occasionally.

Tina is happy, she is 9, has two cool brothers and a butler and her parents, life is good.

Then Jason dies as Robin, Meredith had enough. Files for divorce and wants full custody of Tina. Bruce doesn't fight her.

Tina is doesn't understand what's going, Jason is gone and now her mother is taking her away from home.

Her mother dragged her to car, she was crying asking why they had to go, Meredith says it for her own good. Alfred sees her off.

That was the last time, Bruce, Alfred and Dick ever saw Tina.

A little over a decade later, Bruce has expanded his family. He has Dick, Jason reborn, Tim, Damian, Duke and Cassandra as his children. His pride and joy. A part of him eats at him, the daughter he gave up.

Meredith was vehemently against letting him contact her, and in his depressed state after Jason's death he more or less signed away his parental rights. Still he would like to introduce her to the family someday.

Meanwhile, Tina is all grown up, she got powers in her teens and was the superhero Emmissary ever since. Emmissary is known in the Magical world and is friends with a number of magic heroes but never really interacted with the league.

She now works for her mother's cooperation, Meredith raised Tina with a strict upbringing, to prevent her from following her father's footsteps.

Meredith was unfortunately vindictive. Telling Tina that her father failed to protect Jason and thats why they had to leave. She told her that she wasn't a Wayne anymore, she's a Hayes, and the Hayes' don't cry.

Tina struggles a lot with her self worth. Between her mother's upbringing and the traumatic way she was ripped from Wayne manor, she believes she has to be a person worthy of love.

Emmissary is called to deal with a magical problem in Gotham by Batman, a stolen artifact used to summon a demon. Batman admittedly doesn't trust her but she was recommended by Zatanna, she is also highly protective of her secret identity. He had hoped to used this opportunity to get DNA sample but Emmissary is a cautious person.

He suddenly thinks about Tina, how old she would've been now. He's not sure why Tina is on his mind all of a sudden but he decides maybe its time to talk to Meredith.

Weeks later there's a Wayne Gala upcoming and Meredith decides to send Tina on behalf of Helios international, Meredith's company.

Tina is losing it over possibly coming back to Gotham and seeing her father again. She hasn't seen or spoken to him since the divorce and she heard rumors he adopted more children after Jason, in fact she's pretty certain she has a half brother.

She wonders if Bruce would recognize her, if Dick or Alfred would. She wonders what she will say to him if she sees him.

She gets to the Gala, she does the usual greeting of fellow investors before she starts looking for Bruce. And she finds him.

She finds him, looking exactly as she remembers, if a little older. He is speaking with a city official about something she can't hear. As she begins to approach he excuses himself and heads towards her, she freezes, does he recognize me? she thinks before he walks past her. He wasn't looking at her he was looking at the girl behind her, Cassandra Cain-Wayne.

Next to her was Damian Wayne and Tim Drake-Wayne. A man approaches the group with familiar smile. It's Dick Grayson. She recognized him.

Bruce is speaking and smiling with HIS children. That's the Wayne family right there and she's not part of it. It stings in a way she can't vocalize.

She wonders if this was her mother's plan, another way to show how she isn't a Wayne anymore and Bruce will never be father again.

Just as she decides to leave the Gala an explosion is heard. Then armed thugs appear from every entrance, hostages are taken, Bruce is taken by the leader.

Tina doesn't wait, she sneaks away, disarming thugs while stealthily tracking Bruce's whereabouts. Unbeknownst to her, the rest of the Batfamily is already on the move.

She tracks them down to the outside gardens. There were 3 thugs along with Bruce. They were going to arrange a transport, its now or never.

As she was about to make her move, a hand grabbed and dragged her aways. She fought back, sending her would be attacker to the ground. She stopped as she realized it was Duke Thomas.

He asked what she was doing and she asked him what was he doing. She tells him to hide, call the police and let her handle it. He tells her Batman is already on it so she can come hide too. Tina is surprised and asks if he's sure.

Duke was actually distracting Tina while the others secured the hostages and neutralize the thugs. He wasn't the only who noticed her sneaking away and was tasked with following her.

He assumed she either was working with the criminals or was going to use the distraction for something nefarious. He was surprised when he realized she trying to rescue Bruce and informed the others. Nightwing told him to keep her busy while they handle it and they'll figure out her deal later.

So that's exactly was Duke doing, keeping her occupied while Robin and Red Robin rescued Bruce. A thug was sneaking away while they were occupied but Tina noticed him and quickly jumped and knocked him out.

Bruce, Robin and Red Robin approach her, Bruce thanks her for helping rescue him.

Tina's face pales looking at her father. And her voice stammers a little.

"M-My pleasure, Mr.Wayne. it was nothing."

Bruce studies her, she has training and obviously can handle herself, she must've had some motivation to follow him. Duke is right behind her so he'll catch if she tries to escape. He finally asks her name.

The girl looks like she would rather be anywhere else. She's nervous and can't look him in the eye.

"...I think it's best you don't know sir."

And before anyone could react, she moved quickly past him and Robin and ran into the the garden. Red Robin and Robin quickly followed her but it's almost like she vanished into thin air.

After the guests were sent home and the police arrested the criminals, the Batfamily were at the Batcave discussing the events of the night, and the unknown woman.

From what Duke said from his interactions, she really was trying to save Bruce but on top of that she has good training, and is good enough to lose Damian and Tim in such close distance.

Oracle managed to find match with guest list and Bruce asks her to put it on display. Bruce goes still when he sees it.

Celestine Hayes. His daughter. The one he let go. His daughter was in front him and he didn't recognize her.

That's why she refused to give him her name.

Dick loses it, no way that was little Tina, Damian is asking who's Tina, Tim fills him in, Damian has an older sister. The cave explodes, everyone is talking over each other.

"She was so little! She's as tall as I am now!"

"Father, how come you never mentioned her? Better yet how come no one mentioned her at all?"

"It's because Bruce gave up his parental rights"

"WHAT! WHY?"

"It was right after Jason died and Meredith, Tina's mom, filed for divorce"

"BRUCE! YOU WERE MARRIED?!"

"Wait hold on her mom is Meredith Hayes?! of Helios International? That woman is about as ruthless as Luthor is."

"Wow you married female Luthor?"

"ENOUGH!"

Bruce explained that him and Meredith were in love but their marriage began deteriorating long before the divorce. Jason's death was stroke that broke tha camel's back. She demand full custody and that Bruce cuts contact with Tina so she wouldn't be dragged to this life.

Recently he has been thing about reaching out to Tina now that she's over 18. He wasn't aware that she would've attended this Gala.

Dick asks Barbra of she can locate Tina's whereabouts now, she checked tha cameras around the manor but there was nothing. She literally disappeared as soon as she got into the garden after she ran.

However, she managed to locate where she is staying. says that she booked a hotel room in a 5 star hotel downtown...and she has a flight back home tomorrow noon.

So Dick decided that he's going to visit her before she leaves Gotham, Damian demands to go meet his sister, Bruce refuses.

Seeing her reaction to him, it's better to not overwhelm her. For now, it's best to let her come to them on her own terms.

Tina meanwhile, is decidedly not in her hotel room. But in her own room in the Watch Tower living quarters.

She panicked and used the Watch Tower teleporter when the Robins tried to follow her and she didn't want to use her powers.

She doesn't think she return to Gotham as Tina ever again. She cannot handle facing her father or any of the Waynes.

You know how Dick is basically the Superman/Batman child?

The GL/Batman child is Jason.

Hal basically helped raise Jason and he and Bruce's relationship was at its best.

And then Jason died.

Murdered by Joker.

Batman and GL both wanted revenge but Superman stopped them (Because of the whole Iranian ambassador thing that could spark a war).

They're both angry and grieving.

Then Coast City is destroyed.

Hal loses it, his mind whispers to him, he has the most powerful weapon in the universe on his finger, he just has to use it.

He could have his city back...

He could have his son back....

Parallax threatens all of creation.

The League has stop their former friend.

It ends with Hal's death.

In a matter of months Bruce loses his son and his love.

Specifically, Umamesume!Reader

Umamesumes exists in DC universe (don't question the logic of horse girls). And Uma!Reader is a bio kid of Bruce and knows but isn't involved in the vigilante life. She's only 2 years older than Damian.

She is loved and spoiled by the family and they support her racing career, in fact they're her biggest supporters. Somehow, at least one of them always attends the races in person while the rest watch from Gotham.

-Reader was a biokid he had pre-batman days and he was young and didn't know how to deal with them so Alfred mainly cared for them.

-Despite Alfred's best efforts Reader and Bruce didn't really connect, and Bruce was mainly focused on his crusade and Reader learned to be quiet.

-Dick joins the family when Reader is six. He and Reader get along for a bit but as a soon as he becomes Robin he unintentioally pulls back. Reader with their young mind comes to understand that they are less important.

-Reader has a good singing voice and starts joining competitions. Bruce is aware but doesn't have time to show up so he never actually heard them sing.

-Jason joins after Dick leaves, Reader tries to befriend Jason but much Dick he pulls back once he becomes Robin. Reader doesn't really bother trying with anyone in the family afterwards.

-Jason dies, Reader mourns and moves out of Gotham. They travel from place to place and occasionally writes songs. They never move back to Gotham. Only show up for Holidays and family events. They meet Tim and Steph there.

-Soon Bruce "dies" and Dick asks that they return to help as the eldest Wayne hier. Dick is picking the mantle and cannot handle Wayne Enterprises and Bruce's will so Reader does.

-Once they return they meet Damian, who doesn't view them as anything other than a nuisance since they're not involved with family business. Their first meeting is not great or ideal. Reader learns to keep her distance from him.

-They also Learn Jason is alive but no one bothered to inform them, and Jason assumed they didn't care about him so he never went after them.

-This cements in reader's mind how unimportant they are to family and quietly accepts it. After Bruce's return they leave Gotham without a word. They never meet Cassandra or Duke.

-Once they go home reader writes some songs and releases them under a fake name on Spotify. They go viral. Reader is slowly releasing more songs. Sometime later Dick listens to one of the songs and recognizes the voice as Reader's.

-He listens to more and more music and learns more and more about reader. He asks the family if they heard any of their music, they did but didn't know it was them.

-They compare notes and realize how little they know about Reader. Alfred says they were a quiet child, disturbingly so. If they were struggling or in trouble, they wouldn't ask for anyone's help.

- Bruce talks with Alfred and realizes how much he neglected Reader, he just assumed they had Alfred and didn't need him. That they grew up fine and didn't need him like his other children did.

-He gets called out on it, that he never actually bothered to be father to them as he was to them. Damian is one who suggests contacting them, he wants to apologize for his behavior when they met. Duke wants to meet them and Cassandra admits she's been a fan of their music for while. She wants to get to know them as well.

-Tim sets on tracking them down since they never settled and constantly travel, their last known location was in Fawcett city.

-Reader was in the midst of writing another song, being in Fawcett and surrounded by magic has inspired them. Also, it appears a number of magical creatures are fans, including one Captain Marvel.

-Bruce finds them performing in a public park surrounded by people. They get a number of cash a loud applause once their set is done. The crowd disperse and while they're gathering their things Bruce approaches them. They freeze.

-They don't know what he wants or why he's here. Suddenly they're back to being 3 years old asking if Bruce can read them a bedtime story only to be told to not bother him.

-They assume it must be Batman related, there is no earthly reason why else Bruce would approach them. They ask him if this is related to his nightly activities, he denies it Reader is left perplexed, if its not that what is it?

-He says he wanted to see them, Reader is like "Well, you saw me. Nothing to see here". They tell him they have no direction in life, they travel and and sing because it's the only thing they're good at. That they have nothing to offer Bruce and his nightlife.

-Bruce tries to tell them he doesn't need them to do that, he just wants to spend time with them, Reader doesn't believe him and tells him his other children would probably be better for that. He says they are your brothers and sister, Reader says in name only, including Damian.

MC makes his way into Gotham with a new ID just as Bruce Wayne/Batman begins his crusade and meets MC in both civilian and caped forms.

One thing leads to another, they get serious, Bruce confesses his secret identity, MC also reveals his origins.

They get together, and MC becomes Batdad.

The batkids know MC is trans, they DO NOT know about the royalty part.

One day, on a rare occasion where all the batkids are present and having breakfast together, a news report plays about the small country of Rhivenia, where the now King Richard and his children are at a parade, one of his children is a princess named after MC's old name.

MC scoffs and says the audacity on this man to name his child after him after the way things between them went down.

(Richard DID NOT take MC being chosen by the sword well, leading to their previously good relationship deteriorating at record speed)

MC even remarks that Richard only became king because he had better support than his sisters.

One of the batkids remarks that Richard sounds like a tool, another asks what does MC mean about the name. As far as anyone knows, the previous Queen, MC's former self, only lasted two years before she was assassinated.

MC says well, I was that queen, so I would know.

The batkids stop.

"Wait, what do you mean you were the previous queen?"

"I mean I was Queen (F/N) before I came here."

"what"

"Don't act surprised, you know this"

"No we didn't?"

"Dear, I don't think you mentioned that story"

"Yes I did? At least Dick should know, I told him I was a princess before"

"Yeah, and I assumed you meant you were a woman before, not literally!"
