Never said jbs lyrics aren’t incredible just said that she is interested in how instrumentation can drive forward a point or feeling in a song! It’s what makes her music special! There’s a reason why she played all instruments on LO - it helps her say what she needs to say through specific melodies/ riffs. It’s impressive!! Very few working artists can say the same… especially with ai and other digital recording technology creeping in!
i know and i agree! but you did infer that she was focused on that rather than “storytelling” and i feel like that just isn’t true. her storytelling is just more metaphorical and emotional. it still communicates real things that happened a lot of the time, and her emotional journey around them.
WHERE are all the fat butches.
it is suddenly so cold in my office again it’s like all it took was the external temp dropping below 90

my two cents:
jb’s writing is almost compulsively, obsessively honest, but it’s full of metaphor.
luce writes about specific things or events in plain language, but does it poetically.
what does this have to do with anything though? jb is still telling her own story in her own words, even if she’s more metaphorical about it. and she isn’t that way in interviews
I do know what anon means but JB isn’t the type of artist to put things as plainly as Lucy or phoebe. Lucy tells stories in her music through her lyrics and JB is much more interested in the sound/ instrumentation and her lyrics are often metaphors that are deeply wrapped in various other emotions. I don’t think JB will ever right plainly about some of this stuff but that’s just my two cents !!
This is also why Lucy’s music is much more accessible to a bigger population
again completely disagree. some people just don’t understand her lyrics lmao. just because she’s also self producing doesn’t mean she’s not known for writing honest and gutting lyrics in an almost confessional style. she does it compulsively.
she also talks very candidly in many interviews. we know a lot of her story. that’s part of why she elicits this kind of fascination in fans. there are some things she probably wont share, but that’s her right. it’s also insane to claim that lucy’s told us everything. she hasn’t. she’s a known liar. whole chunks of her life are missing from what she’s told us
im kind of bad at reading people, so please excuse me if this is ignorant. i became a bg fan after the record. i know jb has changed a lot since everything that happened to her in 2019. do the older interviews you recommended still feel relevant to who she is today? would you recommend checking out her pre-little oblivions interviews for newer fans?
pre little oblivions? yes, of course, if you’re interested in her history and where she came from. just keep in mind that she is very different and changed her mind and perspective about things.

i do agree that it’s the lack of commercial promotion. its so obvious!
i think it’s okay though! she doesn’t need that kind of press for this
I also feel like as cute as the planting tomatoes music video/merch are.. they aren’t as gripping as the fiaf
completely disagree. the planting tomatoes merch is aesthetically cohesive, completely on point, and adorable and summery. the vibe is excellent, accessible, and super lesbian. fiaf was not as successful as her label wanted, i think, and so this is being promoted in a more relaxed way. it’s a more relaxed vibe. it’s also a rock song instead of a glittery pop album.

Lucy saying she’s going to play some songs she doesn’t usually play with the orchestra… what songs do you think she’ll pull out?
things she perceives as deep cuts which are actually known by every single fan
I don’t want this to come off in the wrong way towards Lucy but I’m so interested in hearing Juliens point of view… like from Graceland too/ please stay to all of fiaf.. she has had a lot of her story told for her and I want more than anything for her to be able to share her own perspective
honey, what do you think all of julien’s music is if not that? and all of her interviews? including podcasts? and loss protocol? she’s been telling her own (warped) point of view of her life and story and experiences her whole career. she told her version of graceland too/please stay. it’s all of little oblivions + all related press + loss protocol. there’s parts of her story in sapmw too.
she hasn’t taken the opportunity to tell the next part (fiaf) yet, but there’s clearly an album in development. i would argue that middle children and high in the basement are both parts of that story. and lucy’s been a little open for the first time ever in talking about her current partner in interviews so it’s not necessarily a stretch for julien to match that. we’ll see! but she IS telling that story. i would recommend listening to the recovering catholic episode and watching her make it perfect episode for some good insight into her emotional state and journey in 2019 and that time period. she’ll keep telling her story. just give her time.
What do you think caused the drop off in interaction with Lucy’s content? The planting tomatoes teasers and such have much less views /comments than her other releases!
probably the lack of commercial promotion and the die down from boygenius success

Uuuggghhhhh I love cats.
But I’m not home enough to get my own. Even though people say “it’s fine they’re independent”.
I feel like that’s neglect. Idk maybe I’m being dramatic.
no you’re right. i hate to discourage anyone from getting a cat and i think some of them really do be chilling but most cats i know are devastated to be left alone all the time. i work from home two days a week BECAUSE of my baby
