what do I have to do to go to events where people are dressed nicely and there are plates of free cheese cubes
Go to the inaugurations of littlely known artistsā exhibitions.
We are always begging for people to attend, there actually is the āhackā to invite your whole family but tell them to pretend they donāt know you. People with money are more willing to buy your work if they think many people likes it, so your mere presence eating our cheese and canapes will be a great helps. Please bring whoever you want too.
Donāt mind if I do!
I will dress like an eccentric weirdo if that helps.
one time a pal of my pals was having a tough time selling their work in an art exhibit and called us up on the last day, āusā being about 8 students who were Very hungry and also bored. We put on the nicest/artsiest clothes we had available (one dude had a legit fancy suit and put on some shades which were Bright Pink he looked like a movie star I swear) and rolled up to the show in pairs, separately. Fine Art Pal has some nice paintings! but nobody is really paying attention to them, so after getting some fancy cheese cubes in a manner that did not betray that we were actually a ravenous pack of starving students we casually wander around the show and then, fairly individually, drift to a stop by their work. Some of us even walked away, then came back a bit laterĀ ācaptivatedā by the art (it was actually really nice but recall we were all poor as shit and this was a help hustle). Our groupās interest naturally caught other folks, and eventually there was a small clump of about 15 people musing over this art, and within ten minutes the biggest piece had been snatched up by a shrewd investor. by the end of the exhibit every single piece was sold. It helped pay off the artistās student debt and on that success they got into another exhibit! Theyāve been doing well ever since.
So yes, please attend new artist shows, you get free cheese, get to look at nice art, and you can really help out people who deserve more attention.
Just saw your Frankenstein post and dude genderqueer creature is so real to me you read my mind. From the second I watched that movie I was like thatās my daughter right there
ahhh i'm so glad!! the frankenstein as a transgender narrative is a spectrum and on one end there's "i am obscene to you but to myself i simply am" from frankenstein 2025 while on the other end there's "you don't need one of those to be a man" from lisa frankenstein :')
the she-ra reboot makes this video relevant again which means we are in the best timeline
the kids these days dont know this masterpieceā¦they will learn
the Masters of the Universe remake makes this video relevant again which means we are in the best timeline

in happier pride news i actually found this deeply heartwarming
that's solidarity baybeeee
Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.
At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.
Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Minersā Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to āencourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community [ā¦] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.ā
I love informed consent, I love dignity of risk, I love the thought of having someone willing to tell me why the thing that I'm about to do is a bad idea, telling me in detail exactly what the consequences are, what's going to happen and why, and what's the worst that can happen, and then having no power to stop me when I decide to do it anyway because I'm an adult and I'm allowed to get my shit kicked in so fucking bad while doing something stupid if I so choose.
Some core principles I've been thinking about lately:
There are no ontologically evil people
People generally want to believe they are doing good
Under enough stress, anyone will act irrationally
When someone does something terrible, first try to look back and see "how did we get here"
Imagine being the gays at a pride event in 2004 living their lives when someone grabs the microphone and announces to the room that Ronald Reagan was pronounced dead. Can you even imagine the hype, the celebration, the pure elation
This is the Pride Month that It will happen. I feel it in my gay bones

they're still terming random transfems as i type this i see which does make quite a statement doing this today specifically
watched three girls who reblogged its new blog mutual aidpost (made literally 15 minutes ago) already disappear from its notifs. transfems are not included in their pride :/
QUITE the statement to be nuking transfems at the current accelerated pace right at the start of pride month like this, isn't it
It wouldn't surprise me if this all came down to just one manager who's a transphobe and everyone else just cowardly following along because they like having an income
instead of "manager" try CEO. matt mullenweg had been openly participating in a harassment campaign against a transfem user and after terminating her tumblr, even chased her over to twitter to harass her a bit more there. that was 2 years ago.
since then mass termination and nuking* of transfems' blogs have picked up a lot, and haven't ever stopped. every week there is a mass-banwave, usually hitting transfems for being victims of mass harassment campaigns. some transfems get terminated even more frequently, like every few days to even down to every few hours on some days. the blogs up there in the reblog chain from puppet were all made and terminated within hours of each other.
the transmisogyny comes from the top down AND from the userbase
*nuking here refers to the "higher tier" of termination that retroactively deletes all images and reblogs from that blog off of other people's accounts. amd this one cannot be appealed either
alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!

Rewatching atla episodes for Reasons and I just realised that Zuko found Appa the night after he found out he was missing. The gaang have been desperately searching for, what? A few weeks? And Zuko sees a poster saying Appa is missing and just squares tf up and finds him immediately.Ā What a fucking madman.Ā
#this is why they put him in charge of the Fire NationĀ #there is nothing Zuko cannot find up to and including his countryās long lost sense of morality
i mean he had already managed to actually find the avatar, whom literally the entire world (except katara lmao) had believed was dead and gone forever. im pretty sure if zuko decides he is going to Find Something the universe rearranges itself to put it in his path.
This comes in handy when he has kids.
Dude literally found:
š„The avatar
š„Appa
š„His lost uncle via a sweaty sandal
š„A secret civilization thought to be long gone
š„The last 2 dragons existing
š„Katara and Sokkaās Father plus Suki
š„Kataraās motherās murderer
š„His honor
š„His entire nationās honor
I mean the dude was wild. He was born to find stuff. I donāt really know if he found his mother but likeā¦that too. You kinda get why the Gaang saw Zuko and thought, hey what if we use him to find stuff?

āIf I have one message to give to the secular American people, itās that the world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we donāt know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same.ā
ā Marjane Satrapi, Iranian graphic novelist
Something I keep thinking about is how a lot of people consider it a good thing that children cannot by themselves consent (or refuse consent) to medical treatments. Some people do kinda get it that maybe it might be a problem with stuff like kids not being able to access trans healthcare, or kids being refused vaccination by antivaxx parents. But in general I see that most people are actually okay with this idea for the most part.
And like... you do get that that is kinda insane, right?
Because this is something that so often leads to suffering. And I am saying this as someone disabled, who had so many issues due to this in his childhood.
Just three examples: when I was 7, I was supposed to get checked for autism. My mother did not want an autistic child. Since she just could have a "neurotypical" child by refusing diagnosis, she did just that.
When I was 12, my mother had decided I needed a certain plastic surgery (one that had a minor health benefit, but still was largely a beauty thing). I did not want it. I really, really did not want it. We still went through almost the entire process until thankfully there was a doctor who went: "Wait, this is elective. I am refusing to do this on a child that does not want it."
And when I was 14 my mother refused to get me to the hospital when I had severe food poisoning. She refused me hospital treatment for almost two weeks. By the time I got actually taken to the hospital I was almost dead.
And here is the thing: all of this should just not happen. The doctor when I was 12 was cool, but... he refused to do the surgery because he had the right to make a conscience call. Legally my mother was in the right to force me into that elective surgery. And that just should not be the case.
A lot of children die and suffer due to their legal inability to consent - or refuse consent - to medical treatments. And I wish y'all would understand that.
Whenever this is brought up, people will go: "Oh, but parents will decide what is best for the child." And here is the thing: No, they are not. There is so much stuff out there showing that indeed, a lot of parents suck at this. Some out of malice, some because they are religious nuts, and some because they literally treat their kids like some sort of doll or some shit.
