RIP Anthony Head (20 February, 1954 – June, 2026)
British actor Anthony Head, best known for his roles in TV shows including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ted Lasso, Merlin and Little Britain, has died at the age of 72.
This can't be fucking real oh my god.
RIP Marjane Satrapi, author of the amazing graphic novels Persepolis about living during the fundamentalist revolution in Iran in the 70’s and 80’s. She also created the animated movie based on the graphic novels, which is where these gifs come from.

Reblogging in honor of Marjane Satrapi, one of THE great graphic novelists. Her comic Persepolis was a crucial text for shaping my belief that comics can deeply explore identity, culture, politics, and history.

The idea of “but everyone knows that” needs to stop.
I saw a post about someone chiding Millennials for not knowing about JKRowlings transphobia, and asking how it is at all possible that people can exist in the world and the internet and, you know, not know.
Which I mean, I get. It is so present in so many of my online spaces that it seems astounding that someone could simply be ignorant! It feels impossible!
But let me tell you a story:
I went on a girls trip with a bunch of friends. All of us are rather incredibly liberal and all of us are incredibly online.
One girl would not stop talking about Harry Potter.
At one point, another girl asked her why she was ok with supporting it, and she had no real clue that JK Rowling was at all transphobic. She had heard that she likes to support Lesbian causes and thought “oh ok cool!” And that was it. She was AGOG with the news and rather horrified.
I must once again emphasize that she was an incredibly online person. She’s a foodie and a restaurant blogger.
Later in the trip we were picking restaurants and I suggested one I found on Google, and she gasped at me. Actually gasped, asking how I could ever be okay picking that one.
The shock must’ve been on my face, because she then told me all of the shitty things that restaurateur does. He abuses staff. Underpays them. Fires them on a whim. Is known for being one of the worst people to his employees in the entire restaurant business on this coast.
And she was so shocked I had never heard of this. Because in her mind, I was just as online as her. And in her online world, EVERYONE knew about this guy.
So I think the moral of this story is: always approach the other person with some empathy. Even online people, even people you think MUST know about how bad people are, may not have heard. It may truly be just them being on a different sphere of the internet than you.
So be gentle, be kind when letting people know they might not have heard about the cancellation of XYZ person. Don’t assume that everyone knows all the same info as you.
By all means, let them know so they can make informed decisions, but being kind will go a lot further than attacking them for some info they might not know yet.
i tune out for one day and what the fuck is this
i thought maybe it was shitpost but no

I guarantee that this is being built in a rush by non-union labor, so we have a real opportunity for a Final Destination scenario here.

Christ on a mother fucken bike, I thought that was overblown satire. I’m sorry that your political news is so weird America.
But, yes, this is a real thing apparently. Donald Trump is hosting a UFC spectacle in front of the White House to celebrate his 80th birthday. Considering they just had an attempted assassination a couple of days ago, holding an event like this at the White House seems like a bizarre choice. Plus, with the issues with the ballroom construction and paving over rose garden controversies I would be interested to see what paperwork something like this needed (or realistically, was likely skipped).
“In December, Trump said the White House event would host “eight or nine championship fights – the biggest fights they’ve ever had”. But like the size of the crowd, the number of fights expected to be held on the White House lawn has shrunk.”
- The Gaurdian, “UFC arena under construction on White House lawn to mark Trump’s 80th birthday”, Cecilia Nowell, 27/May/2026
The venue is expected to host a mixed martial arts fight on 14 June to also mark the US’s 250th anniversary
Oh, and big surprise! It’s being sponsored by a Crypto company.
Image details: UFC Freedom 250, [Contestants] Topuria VS Gaethje, presented by Crypto dot com and RAM. [Time] Monday 15th of June (2026), 10:00am GMT+10. [Location] The White House, Washington United States.
(Don’t stress, image has alt text properly embedded. Work with WCAG✌️. And that being said, I have some things to say about their decision to put white text on a yellow part of the poster here.)

i think my favorite thing about The Menu is how Slowick identifies himself with Margot near immediately, “service worker to service worker”, but he’s a world famous arthouse chef with a private island and she’s a sex worker who got there by accident. so deluded by his own fantasy as a self-made man that he’s lost any semblance of who he actually used to be. I think that’s what she does in the end. Reminds him of his own humanity, and therefore hers.
Lmao we have to fucking destroy this company are you fucking kidding me with this shit
Google is transforming Search from a list of links into an AI-powered experience filled with conversational answers, autonomous agents, and
Remember that xkcd about how Google searches are shit now? What if we made them even worse for no reason?
I will vote for any candidate who promises to go scorched fucking earth on every tech company. Break every single one of them up into companies based around a single product and then split those in thirds. Weaponize existing antitrust laws to the hilt and pass the most draconian versions of them ever seen on this planet. Nationalize google search specifically. Pass consumer privacy protections strict enough to kill the data harvesting industry for good. Make all of these fuckers go bankrupt for this rent-seeking shit
it really is fucking pathetic that a country with more guns than people can't hit one guy
if this is how you found out there was an active shooter at the White House yesterday I'm sorry
Me: oh it's this post again. Wait. Why does it say "posted 37 minutes ago"

Always bear in mind that there is absolutely no legitimate evidence that Luigi was actually the one who killed the insurance company guy.
Of course he wasn't. He was at a party with me that day.
No but like literally, actually. All bits aside.
He didn't do it.
The cops very clearly planted evidence on him because they had to make an arrest because all eyes were on them and whoever actually did the deed was making them look stupid.
Why would the real killer hero have kept the weapon on his person and traveled two states over while carrying it and a manifesto in his bag, conveniently turning the crime into a federal matter? The same guy whose bag they found in a park, filled with monopoly money? Why did the police turn off their bodycams, take Luigi's stuff, drive a block away, turn their bodycams back on, go back into the restaurant, and then arrest him?
From the moment of his arrest, even left-of-center media has been presuming his guilt without examining anything (e.g. calling him "the killer" instead of "alleged" or "accused") and then when I say he didn't do it, the nearest person chimes in with some quip that tells me they think he did do it but should go free anyway. Don't get me wrong, I would have the same attitude if he had done it. But he didn't. It makes me feel like the only sane person in the world, even among my staunchly leftist friends.
