is this just a tea blog now? maybe!

today is a rooibos tea spiced with ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, and mallow flowers 🫚

rooibos is a south african red tea from a different family from your black and green teas. it doesn’t go bitter because it contains very little tannins. this means it can be steeped for longer to extract all the flavour - 4+ mins is the recommendation on today’s tea. it’s also caffeine free! so if that’s a pro or con i’ll let you decide.

i’m usually not a huge fan of rooibos, but this has been a great warmer for today’s cold morning. the slightly woody flavour goes really well with the spices and makes you feel all cosy. i had my first cup black (red?), no sugar, so for my next one i’ll add a lil almond milk and half a teaspoon of honey.

but first, a caffeinated black tea, and maybe a coffee, to get through this morning’s paperwork 🫠
