The fluffiest vortex
most people agree with the idea that everyone deserves a place to live but their support for this starts waning when you say everyone deserves a comfortable place to live. and by comfortable i mean an adequately sized home that’s safe. not somewhere that has a constant infestation or the water isn’t safe to drink or you have to bundle up under a million jackets and blankets bc you can’t afford heat during the winter or you sleep 5 to a room and 2 to a bed bc bigger places cost more than you can pay. all of this should NOT be a problem
people think “why should they get this for free when i work hard for it” like that’s the point !! you SHOULDN’T have to work hard for it. everyone deserves a comfortable and safe place to live period. regardless of who they are, what they do or don’t do, whether or not you like them, or if they have a job. bc the second you start saying “except for x people” it always comes back marginalized people and “x people” aren’t the ones suffering

repeat after me:
crying is a HEALTHY release of emotion AND a great way to complete the stress cycle
it also grants you a tiger

This is so good. Makes me feel like I'm really helping.
Which I need, because this kind of sucks.
If you're staying home during #Quarantine2020 you're helping make things better than they would be otherwise
For anyone else really feeling the effects of wide-scale gaslighting, feeling like you’re totally insane for still staying home while everyone else tries to go back to normal:
You’re not insane, you are doing the right thing. Please keep doing it. I love you.
Gilmore Girls — A Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving (3x09).
One of my favorite parts of the Hunger Games was how, in the beginning, Katniss was jealous amd resentful of the townies for not having to work in the coal mines. Then, over time, she realizes they aren't the true enemy. Then she sees the other district kids as so much better off than she is, because at least they don't come from district 12. But then she realizes they aren't the enemy either. And then she hates the other victors, before realizing they have all been exploited just as much as she has. So the enemy must be the Capitol citizens, who benefit from the exploitation of the districts, right? Wrong again. They are just uninformed and pampered people who have been kept in the dark about the true horrors faced by the rest of the country. Most of them, when push comes to shove, are perfectly willing to help the war efforts.
And slowly, over the three books, all theses separate factions of downtrodden people start to see each other as allies instead of enemies, and that is what propells them to eventual victory over the true enemy, the government that tried to pit them against each other. Just fun, totally fictional things to think about that have nothing whatsoever to do with our current life.
ordinary things, s.t
I’m so tired of every show that takes place in the past (wild west, medieval, pirates etc) ALWAYS having so much sexual violence towards women like writers can cry “oh it’s realism” all you want but it’s very transparent how realism only applies when you want to hurt women on screen. If we’re talking staying realistic, why doesn’t everyone have brown teeth? Or bad skin? Or dying of dysentery? Just admit y'all want an excuse to brutalize women on screen lol
This pisses me off so much. A lot of the time if you mention realism would also involve women having unshaved legs or pits, or bushy eyebrows, or syphilis, the answer is often “well that’s gross, no one wants to read about/see that” and like…. If you think that women being ugly is grotesque, but brutal depictions of rape aren’t, then I don’t really know what to say to you other than stay the fuck away from me.

We overwork people, and liberal response is
Overwork children so they’re more used to it as adults
Some extra digging reveals that the intent of this was not to actually extend the school day, but to make it mandatory for schools to provide activities and such that kids can take advantage of after classes are over for free so that low income families dont have to spend money on after school child care. Like boys and girls club, but every school in america is required to provide it. Which us a good idra, but it looks like everyone and their mother was wording it badly to make liberals and leftists hate it because republicans didnt want to spend more on schools to make it happen
everyone and their mother was wording it badly to make liberals and leftists hate it because republicans didnt want to spend more on schools to make it happen
Yea it was hilarious to see people react badly to hey what if we provided after school activities, which would be extra helpfull to folk who have no money to buy access to their private rquivalents and also help with childcare especially for single parents. Like you must be brain dead to be against this if you support education, the poor, or single parents, and yet...
And the funniest part is that, even the way it was disingenuously worded wouldn't have been a bad thing. Implamenting longer school days where students complete assignments and homework at school with help and supervision from trachers is common in many countries and it provably helps in every respect. Not only does it allow students to seek help when they have issues with school work, students also have instant access to school resources and are provided a distraction free environment to study. Such systems also leave students more free time as after completing all homework at school they then have nothing else to do at home and are free to spend it as they wish. In such systems schools are also forced to provide food for those extra hours which is a huge boon to families who cannot afford it. So even the allegedly "worst" version of this is good.
the us already has pretty much the longest school days in the world, they don’t need tobe made any longer, you fucking retard.
We should just make the parents work days shorter imo but they don’t wanna hear it
We as a website really have no logical sense of humor huh
Sounds like someone didn’t get invited to the Raybams sale
