studio ghibli romances be like mmm what if we didn’t kiss, but instead both spiritually matured as people because we met each other

you must remember that you're gonna continue to find things (art, nature, people, etc) that amaze you and ground you and you're gonna be glad to be alive to experience it
[grabs your shirt] listen. listen to me. the practical is holy. the everyday is sacred. the simple act of surviving is divine. do you get it? sanctity begins at home, in the hands that build and the lives we live and the deaths we die and the worms that eat our bodies. if making something by hand is not worthy of veneration then nothing is.

I have a confession to make... I thought the idea of wireless headphones like air pods were so so stupid when they first came out. But having owned wireless headphone pods with a case I have to admit that I do enjoy them quite a lot. But we should still eat the spleen of every person who lobbied to phase out the headphone jack in electronics
Wireless headphones: great, can move around without having to drag my phone or laptop with me, chord doesn't get caught on doorknobs anymore
No headphone jack in my phone: terrible, awful, everyone involved should get hit with a hammer

we are never going to be free until it literally doesnt matter whether a person is ugly or not
‘how would other people describe you’ why would i know this
If you’re not sure how other people would describe you, or maybe you’re not sure if people even like you, here’s a practice you can try:
Any time anyone gives you a compliment or notices something about you that feels special or unique, write it down. Even if you don’t fully believe in that compliment, just write it. Write what that person said in quotations, and then note the kind of relationship you have with that person. You could get a fresh notebook, just a spiral notebook or composition journal from the dollar store. You could get some index cards and an index container, or some sticky notes and a plain glass jar. You could also type these out on a computer or mobile device, but I promise that physically writing them on paper will help even more.
The point of the practice is teaching your brain to notice what others compliment about you–your brain will get into the habit of noticing. First you hear it in your brain, then you’re thinking about the words they said until you can write it down on paper. Writing things on paper requires multiple parts of your brain to pay attention and work together, which solidifies the memory of what that person said in your brain. And even if you won’t remember that person complimenting you, you’ll have a whole journal or container to remind you. You’ll start to pick up on common traits different people notice about you, too. You may see that several people notice that you are funny, stylish, kind, or clever. When you also make a note of the relationship you have to that person, you will start to see what you bring to those kinds of relationships broadly. You’ll notice that your friends love that you always bring extra snacks to share during movie night, or you’ll notice your coworkers love how resourceful you are.
You don’t have to stop what you’re doing any time someone compliments you, or remember every single compliment given to you that day. But if you can remember to write down a compliment every few days, your collection will still grow! Look back at the compliments when you feel dissociated from yourself, when you need a mood boost, or when you’re filling out a job application.
You don't remember my old url....? O-oh.. no its fine. I said its fine! Don't... don't touch me.

not to sound corny but the textile arts make me feel connected to the world around me. it's so intentional and deliberate and when i sit and do it, i think a lot about how many other women that came before me used to do it, how many hands have used the same supplies i am using, and how many other people might be doing the same thing as me all across the world right now
