Because of the odd amalgamation of personalities, it would have been really normal or even expected that the group formed because they were shipped off to Oregon. A very normal framing would have been:

These 6 vampires who loosely knew each other all happened to be at the same popular party in a big city. At the party, they were all involved in this massive PR disaster, so the leaders decided to send them all away as punishment. Now as a group stuck together in a backward town, they need to learn to work together to get back to their lives, but along the way they find friendship and camaraderie that makes them choose the town and each other over the system they previously lived in.

But that’s decidedly not how the coterie is presented. These vampires were together in San Fransisco. They chose each other before the first Banksy, are all in exile together because they were already bonded, and now in Purpee don’t ever question that they are still working together.
